Had one of these monitors on a warehouse deal but had backlight bleed unfortunately, has my eye on it's price ever since - still one of the most beautiful monitors I've ever used - it's stunning if you get a good panel.

Cheapest it's been on Amazon according to camelcamelcamel.

What did you come from out of interest? When I had the second hand one, I came from a Dell which is not smooth in the slightest - it was a massive upgrade. I know you're paying over the odds for G-sync but I was 100% sold on it after using it for a few days.

PG278Q.

Was expecting a more vibrant, super sharp image but i guess coming from the little brother the difference wasn't that great.

Back light bleed or IPS glow ? Some people don't know the difference.
Thanks for letting us know, as I've been also watching this monitor for some months now..

Well here's one of many reviews about the monitor:--

Fair enough, I'm probably with you on the not worth £599 but at the same time, there's very little better than spending a ton more. And I like nothing more than an expensive shiny toy.

I had both unfortunately, I almost persuaded myself that the glow was okay but at this price, it's really not.

How do you check your monitor for these issues? And is there anything else you need to check for??

Usually just turn off your lights and put on a pitch black image. If there is backlight bleeding you'll see the edges leaking light.

Just to note, I wouldn't go looking for this issue, if you don't notice it in everyday use, you're probably fine. IPS will always be affected by IPS glow, it's subjective as to whether it's too much or not. Also depends on what kind of environment you play in. In a light room, you may not notice anything at all but if you play in a darker room, you're likely to notice it more.
