Have some heat. No idea why this going cold, it is a great router for the price.
I have used this router for 3-4 years now and it has not missed a beat. I would recommend this router to others.

the only 1 issue i have kinda. i used the custom firmware update from Asus and my sons Amazon fire tablet cannot connect to it. but his tablet can connect to the other WIFI in the house fine for me as it mean he is never in the office/my games room.

think i paid around £130/150(on sale) about 3-4 years ago. so smashing price for a nice gamming router.

Edit. P.S i did add some of the Asus WL-ANT-157, For the price it did not expand the range that much more. (have thick walls in the house)

May because the router is old came out in 2012 (i think). for this price they will be hard pushed to find a better router unless you looking to spent £150+

I've done my research and I needed to upgrade the Virgin SH3. Mainly for VPN to my home network and VPN from my house. No clue why is getting cold either. I was thinking about ac3200 but price is just not there for me.

I can't find anywhere info about processing power but somebody mentioned that specs are similar to r7000. I went for Asus as it has openvpn in it without flashing the box.
Some hot from me due to the fact that the item is in stock unlike Netgear OP. However if specs are similar then Netgear Nighthawk offer is more tempting as is £30 cheaper. Anyway No stock = no expenses :P

And other way no stock = no savings.

Yes I also have a SH3. Once I had it little play with it and the Virgin engineer said that manually splitting the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands would cause it to crash/die I decided that putting it in modem mode was the best thing!

Processing power isn't everything. This model is well know to be rock stable and also supports Merlin. For the money at least it is very good.
Got merlin mod installed. It's just great. Highly recommended it. I have placed the router on top of my subwoofer and no negative effect so far. Great router.
