STEALTHY AND STRIKING

Show off your personal style with the eye-catching Bonfire Black design accented with a crimson stripe. The subtle honeycomb patterning around the base adds grip and echoes hexagon reinforcements around the chassis, while hairline brushstrokes across the palm rest keep it sleek and clean.

MILITARY-GRADE TOUGHNESS

In order to earn the TUF Gaming name, these laptops must successfully survive a rigorous battery of MIL-STD-810H tests. Test devices are exposed to drops, vibration, humidity, and extreme temperatures to ensure reliability. Dependable even in the harshest conditions, the A15 is more than capable of withstanding the accidental bumps and knocks of everyday life.

EXPAND YOUR SIGHTS

Featuring a speedy 144Hz IPS-level panel, the TUF Gaming A15 is perfect for fast-paced gaming. With adaptive sync, the display’s refresh rate synchronizes with the GPU’s frame rate to reduce lag, minimize stuttering, and eliminate visual tearing for ultra-smooth and immersive gameplay. Honestly not sure if this is a good deal. I'm into gaming and used to be into computer components but haven't kept up to date. Been lurking on the deals posted recently but they all seem to have one problem or another which I can't compromise on. Just waiting for the right one to come along.

Figured I'd let the votes decide on this one

GPU is the big weakness here. CPU/display/SSD all decent at this price point. More RAM would be nice but think its upgradeable on this unit.
Same machine with 3500h is over£200 cheaper. The cpu upgrade is not worth that sadly.

Sorry it was the Nitro, the tuf was £130 cheaper. There’s a 1660ti version of this only £50 more too.

Sorry to be a buzzkill but can’t see the deal here

I'm looking to use a mix of GeForce Now game streaming and the laptop itself depending on the game and if I can run it.

At my budget I'm gonna have to compromise somewhere, maybe that has to be on the graphics card? Guess it's just whether this is a good price for the specs or whether it's worth waiting for an alternative with better specs for the money (I can't afford to pay much more).

Battery life and portability are most important to me.

No worries I'm looking for honesty! Thank you for your advice mate
Yeah an imbalance here. Stonking brand new 2020 processor but mismatched with this graphics card.

If you are after a 1650 then there are laptops £100 cheaper than this.

If you are after tip-top performance then really this processor should be with a 1660Ti at minimum.
Also just seen this comment for the same laptop but different spec. My mistake - I thought it was a different laptop entirely.

That is a much better deal, the 1660ti is the top of the lower tier of graphics cards and one of the best performing 1080p cards. Light years ahead of this machine.
Found this which might help too

gpucheck.com/com…hz/

Basically with the 1650 you are looking at about half the frame rates of the 1660Ti.

If you are looking to play recent or demanding 3D games the 1650 frame rates at anything other than fairly low quality and resolution settings are going to drop into the choppy/unacceptable range below 30fps, according to this.
Would never spend £800 for a 1650. A 1660ti performs 40% + better and can be picked up for slightly more than this (albeit less storage, maybe worse screen etc). Cold.

Not going to comment on the value/price side but dont underestimate the CPU upgrade here. The 4600h has more than double the performance on multi core processes and 25% better on single core. It's an unbelievably good CPU.

More shocking for me is the 8gb ram at this price point.
For gaming you’re gonna want a 17” inch screen or you’ll regret it.
rev609/06/2020 09:43

Less portable though.

Yep. And I would presume when gaming at home this would be plugged into a monitor anyway.

Exactly. Even the old 1060>1650.
After looking at some of the reviews it seems that Asus failed to deliver a good machine again, FX504 was a failure now again these specs are only good on paper.

Right now for this processor this is a good deal as nothing else is shipping with the 4000 chips at this price point

But it's a gaming laptop.

Whether it's a good processor or not, this unit is held back quite significantly by the 1650.

Yes you can compare if it shows that an equivalent item has been much cheaper. Just one example of many cheaper items with a similar spec. Do some internet searching on the main laptop websites and you will find plenty.

This GPU is in budget gaming laptops, pairing it with a decent CPU doesn’t automatically make it a good GAMING laptop. There are far better alternatives that are cheaper, or slightly more expensive, with a better GPU that’ll benefit GAMING rather than workload tasks, which the CPU will, granted, outperform a lot of gaming laptops with other CPUs in. Take another look at the title, clearly states gaming laptop. This is a bad gaming laptop for the price, just accept it.

It could say magic making doughnut machine, it's still a laptop and with these specs it's the cheapest laptop you can buy in the UK today with a RYZEN 4600 on that basis the GPU is a plus.

Prove me wrong

Fact is this is a good spec for the CPU, now your turn seen as I agreed with you prove me wrong

Far far worse processor. This is what were talking about here the fact you cannot get this spec, both CPU and GPU for this price anywhere. GHEEZ

WE KNOW the 1650 is cheaper but NOT with the compute specs of the processor.

Gaming laptop or not, that's just a term it's still a laptop whichever term you slap on it, this 4600u is the cheapest 4600u in the UK right now.

4500u machines are £800 plus

You cannot prove me otherwise

This machine has a 4600H not 4600U just FYI. Best get your facts right. It’s a total mismatch anyway as I said in my first post putting the 4600H with the 1650 GPU.

Bring it

So you get the specs wrong but make no reference to it and instead ask more questions. How odd.

I already posted one look back a few comments. Good deal hunting .
