You should really get that checked out. No i5 laptop should be slow, depending on what you are doing. Sounds like a fault

Probably the hard drive, either a slow drive or it's broken.

It's an AMD Processor which is dog ****. It'l alright for the price. But why not spend a bit more and buy something which is going to last you.

Gonna have to vote this cold. It's a second gen i3. You can probably pick up a Ivy Bridge i3 for around the same price. or a bit more. I may be wrong though.

AMD processors are crap in laptops. I bought a HP Pavilion G6 (6GB ram 750GB and A4 AMD process. It is a frustrating experience to use it every time. Multiple tabs on chrome start lagging and I can't even multitask.

Not good just average.

Yeah. I'm looking for a ultrabook at the minute and there's so many with AMD Processors. Hoping to get one with a Haswell i5 for around 500-600.. hopefully. So... anyone with any suggestions haha.

This is a 3rd generation Core i3 in essentially the same laptop, same price. Better deal: tesco.com/dir…425

Worth checking Dell Outlet shop, cheapest i3 I could find was £231.40 1 min ago..

1) Do a factory reset. Something you've installed/downloaded since first boot could be slowing down your machine. Verify with task manager if possible.

2) Install an SSD. This will fix most issues with sluggish OS/UI operations.

Please don't vote cold unless you are absolutely sure what the issue is. If you want any 1:1 help, feel free to PM me.

thanks guys, nearly went for it

These have a funny HDD in which powersaves too soon, clicks a bit, and makes it dog slow.

Google QuietHDD and other apps if you experience this issue - this sorted it out for me.

I paid <£280 on ebay argos outlet. Absolutely fine in daily use (now) not a workhorse but fine.

But it did turn itself off an hours ago (instant death) and forgot all cached passwords (e.g. outlook, dropbox etc). Weird.

Take a look at the Dell Venue 11 Pro hotukdeals.com/dea…e=3

Some i5 ones are going for £290 apparently. Add on a £60 keyboard dock and you have a pretty awesome 1080p screen set up. Fast, light(ish), powerful...and a great keyboard.

Out of interest anyone changed an HDD to an SSD? Just wondering his easy it is. Most laptops these days don't come with the Windows disk. Is there an easy way to switch everything from the old drive to the new? Thanks in advance.

Fine if you're after a basic machine and are ok with the plastic build.

What is your budget?
You can use this website to compare cpu models if you can't decide : cpuboss.com/com…pus

For mild gaming you can compare graphic cards here : gpuboss.com/

I suggest that you don't rush when buying a laptop as it is a pain in the **** to deal with if it does not perform as expected.

I would stay clear of HP but that is just my opinion. I spent £330 on it last year and it has overheating issues along with wifi connectivity problems and lags all the time.

I have compared the the Argos laptop's processor with the Asus. Here are the results : cpuboss.com/cpu…65M

You would want the processor to be decent but that's not everything.
