Update - Black model now showing as out of stock online (3.30pm Saturday), but the white is still available, same price. You can also check in store. Also see my other thread linked below for other decent offers using this trade in.

If you have an (old) 7 inch or above tablet in working order that you fancy trading in for an upgrade, this seems like an ideal way. ASUS are offering £50 cashback for your old 7" or above tablet when purchasing the 10" TF103CX.

Details of the Asus 'trade up' - asuspromotions.com/uk/…up/

I've also posted a deal covering one of the 7" and one of the 8" models in the promotion....

Been using this as a part time student for last 2 years, and its great!

Take my notes with LectureNotes, recording audio at same time.

Sync my notes and uni files with DropSync so can pull them up in lectures or on work/home PC's.

Use every day for browsing, mail, investing, games... bloody love it.

If you can stretch to the cost and have a specific reason for a stylus, I'd probably go for the newer model for future proofing, a bit lighter and improved screen... but for me, I see no reason to upgrade yet, everything just works!

think the old tablet must be Asus too?

Nope -

"For your existing tablet to qualify for the trade in reward, it must have a diagonal screen size of 7” or more and be complete and undamaged (reasonable wear and tear excepted). For the avoidance of doubt each of the following is considered beyond reasonable wear and tear; cracked/split/damaged/water damaged, open chassis structure, cracked or non-working display and does not power on."

Great deal, I've had a tf101 was pretty good, now have a t200a replaced my laptop with it very happy.

Hm, low resolution screen, little RAM, outdated Android version - does this tablet have anything going for it?

I have to say that for a hybrid, I would always pick Windows, especially if the tablet already has an Intel CPU.

I have chinese tab unbrabded that I bought two years ago.
Could I use this for trade in ?
How to do that ?

Any help will be very much appreciated.

This has Intel processor, 8gb RAM and Kit Kat.
The tablet has plenty going for it for us mere mortals.

Same here and I hate it so I would like to know if anyone knows if this can be done?

It doesn't have 8gb of ram, that would be ridiculous! It has 8gb ROM , which is about as little as you can get away with and 1gb ram which again is the minimum to make android usable these days.

I'm three quarters of the way through the process - I have a crappy (but working) Archos 80 that I'm sending. When you purchase the Asus, you have to take a picture of your receipt and fill in the details of the one you're sending. Your cashback is then pre-approved and they send you a box for your old one. That's where I am now. Your old one DOES NOT need to be an Asus.
Incidentally, I went for the Asus MeMO Pad 7 ME176CX Tablet
johnlewis.com/sto…ack
which is now £99 or £49 with cashback. Bargain. It works, it is pleasant, it is fifty quid. The sort of thing that lies on the kitchen table and gets used by everyone.

I think it has 8gb EEPROM

These trade in promotions have made the price of crappy 7" tablets soar on eBay. Tried to get one for the £30 linx promo but even single core machines were making £20.

Umm, have you read my first reply to this post and the others above? I have traded in an Ainol branded tablet. So, yes, you can trade in any brand of tablet as long as it meets the criteria - see post #4 - hotukdeals.com/dea…545

When you buy your new tablet you complete the form online including an upload of your receipt and detailing to Asus the tablet you'll be trading in. You'll then hear back from Asus if your claim will be approved before they send the box out to you to send your old one back. If you were really unsure you could keep the new tablet boxed and unopened up to that point so you could return it to the store you purchased from at worst.

Thanks for this.
I'm thinking to get the keyboard one but can't decide...

I paid £106 for mine at Very in January. I also found a £10 discount code which took off the delivery cost and a bit more. I was worried that it might be rubbish, but I am more than happy with mine. just sorry that the price has gone up. I feel that this is to get ready for easter sales.

And what is that?

It has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM, the bare minimum you need nowadays. KitKat is out of date and has known security issues that will not get fixed. Lollipop is going to be a very marginal experience on this tablet, and Lollipop has been critised a lot for not really working well on tablets anyway. The Intel CPU is a mixed blessing for Android - for example MS Office requires an ARM CPU. (And this very issues kills it for me as a work & play solution.)

I have the TF300T and i think it must be broken by the way people are speaking so highly of the asus tablets they own. it's basically as slow as you can possible imagine ... anyone got a TF300T receipt they dont mind sending me a picture of so i can claim this offer? (ill pay if necessary)

Also got this at Very for £106 - £30 (new account) =£76. Bought a used Starpad from Amazon for £19.99 and used it for the trade in which has been approved. Net cost £46. Nice tablet, screen not as good as the Nook HD+ and a bit light on the memory at 8gb but excellent value for money. Possibility it maybe in line for Lollipop upgrade.

I've got a Asus TF300T which has slowed down to a crawl, thinking should I trade in - I've already did a factory reset sometime ago, so not sure any way of speeding it up.

Kit Kat out of date?? I'm still happily using a 9.7 Gemini tablet with ICS!

I already have 2 tablets (TF100) and Toshiba Excite Pro. Been thinking about trading in the TF100 as it's stuck on ice cream. The 16Gb model of this looks good, especially with the keyboard and I've been looking for a reason to spend my £20 John Lewis voucher. Very tempting, but I am thinking that I need to hold back for the Windows 10 tablets as I have an XB1 and like the idea of streaming games across other devices.

Does anyone know if this range of tablets are likely to get Lollipop?

You can get the 16gb version without the keyboard at virtually the same price as this version - I've posted on here as a thread. Sorry but can't link to it as on my phone. However, for some reason it is going very cold !!

I have tf 103 , screen is not the best (unresponsive), battery life is disappointing and takes ages to charge, it actually takes more to charge than discharge
Edited by: "7777777" 7th Mar 2015

I also have chinese tab unbranded that I bought a few years ago. It won't hold its charge and only powers on via USB or wall charger.

Could I use this for trade in ?

Stick new rom on it worth a try... forum.xda-developers.com/tra…783

The different types of ROM & RAM on tablets is getting confusing to me. The 1 GiB is working memory, the 8 GiB is storage (so can't really be called 'Read-Only), EEPROMS, etc then there's the new ROMs one can download when rooted

I think I was nearly gonna get this in December in Argos...they had one on display and the disappointing cheap quality screen put me off !!! so may suit some but prob good to check out first

I did have a look at that but there's not real clear instructions how to do it - I did one which involves unlocking the device, keeps coming up error message. So I'm kinda of stuck.
