RRP is £499.99 so 1p cheaper!

Item looks fantastic from the reviews. However for me for £500 it would have to replace my laptop and they are not at that level for me. At £300 it might tempt me but £500 is a little far.
its not the fact its list price i was pointing out that you get 3% quidco effectivley making this £485.01
Why would asus (and therefore ebuyer) sell it for more than an ipad? Its like they're determined for it not to sell well. Doesn't even have 3g right? £100 cheaper and it would be decent.

It costs £499 because it comes with the keyboard, apparently when they release the model without the keyboard it will cost about £399, which is almost the same price as a 16GB iPad

I am so looking forward to this.

Sold my G Tab 8.9 a few weeks ago when i read all the positive reviews about the Prime.

Bring it on
Tempted... it's like having both a tablet and a netbook, or at least that's how I would justify it to myself

they sell it for more than an ipad because its better than an ipad
haha...i see asus is trying to go the netflix way. this will only end in tears. X)
last time i checked the 32 gb ipad 2 was £510 with no keyboard dock and no micro sd slot and hdmi out plus its only 1024 x 768 this is 1280 x 800 and a smaller screen on the ipad 2 no comparison for the money really .Also it technically has unlimited storage due to the memory card slot .Before i venture in to that debate il just say i have owned an ipad and found it very restrictive flash isnt as important as it used to be now html5 is being used but the asus on paper is a much faster and better specd tablet. i just ordered one myself and thought id share the deal as any saving on tech these days is worth a look

I just checked the Apple website. The 32gb ipad2 is £479.
This is only £20 more for a keyboard, usb, two card slots, better battery, ect ect ect.........
You can get cheaper from Dixons using code XMAS5 bringing price down to £474.99 plus Quidco on top as well. It does mention 'Pre-Order' but then says standard delivery in 4-7 working days.

Well if it didn't have the dock included then it would be £80 cheaper than the ipad2. But then you have to remember the hardware is better in every respect.

Well what they need to do to try and be the biggest tablet retailer is take a leaf out of HP's book. In Q3 HP managed to be the second biggest tablet seller, they did sell them at a big loss costing them millions mind.

Actually the graphics chip in the ipad 2 is better than the graphics on the Asus TP.

Well we all knew the GLBenchmarks were going to be better as PowerVR graphics cores always excel in this as they are optimised for it. It's somewhat difficult to compare the two due to the differences in OS. But when you look as close as you can in real world usage like games, the Asus TP is easily on par with ipad2. The old transformer was visually slower for everybody to see than the ipad2, now that advantage has all but gone.

if any1 in on the money they should o got a capital one credit card which is offering 5% cash back and therefore reducing the price again.
Will order when the price is right. If you own an Ipad, it will be great to warm up the cat's bed.

I have lusted after the Prime for a long while without really knowing what I would use it for. Massive battery life, keyboard, stunning screen. I want one but, being a non cat owner, it would probably be as useful to me as a cat's bed with an iPad in it. £500 buys a pretty nice second rate (on battery and screen) laptop. As to whether it's hot at that price, I think for what it offers and with Quidco, just about, yes.
Although this is a great tablet I'd not buy now, other manufacturers are set to release their ones Q1 next year especially with increased screen res. I'll stick with me tab 10.1 for a few months more.

Otherwise for early adapters and those wishing to buy an android tablet now this is the one to get.

Android performs so poorly on tablets already, so doubling the screen res will just put more strain on it. That is ofcourse unless these companies stop putting their garbage over the top of the stock android (and best) experience. But that wont happen. We're stuck with the resource hogging, battery draining, Touchwiz and Sense UI crap.

The iPad will be at the top of the tablet market for a while to come yet. While it somewhat lacks innovation after using the QNX UI on playbook and the functionality of the Asus Transformer, it ticks all the boxes and then some where the most important aspects are concerned, i.e. battery life/user experience/screen/build quality.
Can anyone confirm if Dixons take money on despatch

now what colour gold or grey
Try visiting xda developers loads of custom roms without touch UI and sense if that's what you want . Try installing a custom ROM on an iPad ....oh they're aren't any ;-) so at least with other tablets including the Samsung so at least you've got a choice and aren't locked in to the world of apple

I got grey as its got a puple tinge to it which looks cool check out some YouTube vids to decide which plus I think it will wear better and looks classier than the gold/silver but at the end if the day it up to the buyer
any more news on official UK release date?
Says expected to ship 12 of Jan thats all I know
