I've always regretted buying AMD laptops in the past because the performance seemed so much worse than what an equivalent Intel.
Are these Ryzen any different?

Lots of people make a big deal in the non gaming laptops about the built in graphics performance of the Ryzen. Sometimes people have miss linked the 15w version for the power more powerful ones.

In this case its a year old CPU that is suppose to be good and its the full 35W version.

However, I was given Ryzen laptop at work made by HP after having many good Intel HPs for year and it was nothing but "fan on" every few mins, while the intel one which i had before and now have had replace it hardly ever comes on!

Absolutely, Ryzen was a landmark release for CPUs and they've been improving with every generation. Intel still hold an edge in high end gaming, but in a midrange laptop like this where the graphics card is the bottleneck on performance the 3350H will perform every bit as well as it's competing i5, and will likely outperform it in other multithreaded workloads. The upcoming 4th gen Ryzen chips are an absolute gamechanger.

For reference I had the A10-4600M as soon as it was released and that's the one that had a lot of issues, it was a long time ago (2012)

Yeah AMD's old chips were terrible in laptops, there was almost never a reason to go for them over Intel. I used to publish annual laptop guides on a student website and my advice to anyone who only had Athlon laptops in their price range was to keep saving rather than buy something sub-par (this was back in the days when entry level Core i3 laptops could be found for £250). Nowadays I have zero qualms recommending Ryzen based laptops.
It’s a good laptop but the price has been a lot lower. I’m sure they dropped to around £580 at one point. Maybe worth hanging on to what would have been back to school season.

I think the 1050 one has been cheaper with 60Hz screen but this is the 1650 with 120Hz screen. I think it’s a decent price for the spec....
It’s definitely this one as I paid £620 from AO for mine and the following week it was £40 cheaper!!

Great price it’s £799 on there now. How do you find the laptop ?
Is quick loading and great at the usual office stuff. For games I’ve only really tried Warcraft and the boys tried Fortnite but it handled those fine without breaking a sweat. New AAA titles it might struggle at higher settings but think it should be fine.

Screen is good too!
Prices are currently high though so I would try and wait a month maybe, there’s a new Ryzen 4K model out with a 1650ti in for £950. So these should start getting cheaper as they are now superseded.

Is the 1650ti good enough for the latest games or is 1060ti minimum?

Nice, What are the Max Settings you can Run on FH4? Do you notice a difference with the 120Hz Screen would you say?

It was set to high I think. It ran really well. The 120Hz is noticeable in desktop and games that can push it above 60Hz.
Potentially £40 cashback via TCB now too.
