Price seem to be creeping up, but this is decent for someone who wants a new gaming laptop as a gift. 3050 Ti is fine but that 4GB VRAM is a bit restrictive.

Bear in mind this has the i5 11300H which is significantly weaker than the 11400H normally associated with this machine.
It would be better to have a 6 core 11400h and weaker 3050 not the Ti. Amazon had it for £549 (not third party seller who are selling it for £799). They seem to have these in stock now and then. You need to keep checking

Heat added and quite tempted myself. In some of the other laptop deals people have suggested you should be getting a 3060 (significantly faster in gaming) in this price bracket, but the cheapest I've seen with a 3060 is £799. For sub-£600, this is about as good as I've seen.
We used to get the 3060 in this price range but not recently. Not sure why the prices are creeping back up again. It’s ok given the current market - seems weird the card is not great and the CPU is now 2 generations old.

Was looking at this yesterday and thought it looked really decent for the money for things like f1 manager, football manager, emulation and usual pc tasks if you can add another stick of memory. Still debating at the minute. I use my series x and ps5 mainly for gaming so I don't really need a QHD screen or 3060/3070. Heat added

I have absolutely no idea on laptops, but how does this compare to the one below? It's currently unavailable, but managed to order it last week for my son at £599.

ASUS TUF Gaming A15 FA506IC-HN042W Laptop 15.6" FHD IPS AMD Ryzen 5 4600H 144 Hz 8 GB DDR4-SDRAM 512 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Backlit Keyboard Windows 11 Home Black
I'd say that one you bought is objectively better in every way than this deal.

I've a budget up to 1k max, any recommendations? Won't be gaming too much on it but want decent ish performance if I do

Not bad I guess, if your expectations are playing games like Cyberpunk or big recent releases at 1080p 60fps then you’ll likely be disappointed.

Indie titles and older games should run great though. Maybe for some emulation this would be great too.
This would easily play new releases @60fps 1080p. Especially when you take into consideration most new games support DLSS, which the graphics card can make use of. I have the much older GTX 1660 in my laptop and it has no problem playing the new Call of Duty or Elden Ring.
