Nice offer for this budget gaming laptop.

ASUS TUF Gaming FX505 will change the way you look at gaming laptops. It exceeds expectations, boasting impressive hardware and a compact, aggressively-designed chassis that's exceptionally tough. The 15.6 inch Full HD NanoEdge display has an even thinner 6.5mm bezel for extreme immersion in a much more compact package. FX505 also has an extremely durable keyboard with keys that can endure up to 20 million key presses — twice the industry standard. It promises an extended lifespan without compromising accuracy and comfort.

ASUS-exclusive HyperCool technology comprises of the Anti-Dust Cooling (ADC) system and Fan Overboost technology to ensure exceptional cooling during gaming marathons. The ADC system has an exclusive internal design that forces dust particles and dirt to exit the chassis through two anti-dust tunnels located at the edges of the fans. This prevents the thermal fins from becoming caked in grime, preserving performance in the long run to improve both system longevity and reliability.

The system can automatically adjust fan speeds according to CPU and GPU temperatures, but you also have the option to switch between Fan Overboost, Balanced, and Silent modes to suit the situation at hand. Fan Overboost is the most aggressive setting, providing the fastest fan speeds to fully exploit the power of FX505. Silent mode curbs fan noise, so it's perfect when you're surfing the net, getting work done, or watching a movie.

How would a RX560X get 120fps?
What's the Nvidia equivalent to this graphics card?
Any gamer's on here??

If so what is the difference between a normal laptop, with say Intel i7 inside & this laptop, i mean what makes a god gaming laptop, and why is it better than say playstation/ xbox etc apart from portability??
Nice! great spot

Crucially, a dedicated graphics card, which this has. The thing is, adding a graphics card a) adds weight b) drains the battery

These are going to be better from a 'portability' point of view relative to a playstation/xbox by virtue of the fact that they have a high refresh rate screen attached, but the graphics card in this particular laptop is definitely of the lower-mid range type.
If you want stable frame rates out of a laptop you've gotta get it on a cooling pad and make sure the fans and intakes stay clean
Great spec and price
Want to vote hot just because its gears koth!

Oops no it isn't. Its the super sweaty one.

Not an IPS screen.

But a decent price nevertheless
120 fps on the original Tomb Raider

Dedicated graphics cards set a gaming laptop apart from normal laptops. Normal integrated graphics are pretty poor for gaming (though getting better!), so you want a laptop with dedicated graphics for gaming.

Beyond that, just the standard stuff. SSD for fast loading, i5 processor or equivalent so you're not bottlenecking your GPU, 8GB ram minimum preferably of a decent speed.

As for being better than a PS4, it is just portability and flexibility. You can play games and do your spreadsheets on a laptop, can't do that on a PS4! If you want to spend the money to do that, upto you really haha.
Oos
Would this be suitable for home office use? I'm not into gaming, but it looks like it has good specs for the price. Sorry if this is a stupid question
Phew, thank you

See here for some benchmarks. This machine is around 50% more powerful than the base Xbox One (or S) but it's nowhere near the X, which has more than 3x the GPU power.
That’s it away

Don't forget, if playing on battery performance will be diminished. Gaming Laptops are always a compromise, unless your willing to spend the money, and the upgrade path is next to nothing.

It is IPS

I can’t see it written as ips anywhere in the specs, and viewing angle is only 85 degrees which is consistent with TN.

Display features:

15.6 inch screen.
Full HD Display.
Resolution 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Refresh rate120Hz.
85 degree viewing angle.
I bought this last week at 574, and returned it on Friday, got my refund money today.

The laptop has a lot going on for the money. Backlit keyboard, decent screen, gaming possibility, feels sturdy, nice flat surface for wrist wrest. Touchpad felt like crud though.

I will also note that the battery life at desktop (no videos, no gaming) reported under 2 hours. I don't know if that's typical.

I returned mine because it was clearly not new.

Argos gave me an answer that was contrary to the evidence I provided them, so back it went - not in the mood to be messed about. After all I don't know why someone else chose to return the laptop, perhaps it's borked. So at the first sign of bullpoop from customer service, I'm out.

What a cheap tacky gaming laptop. Within weeks the hindges went on mine.
Full lid had to be replaced
Awful rattly touchpad lottery on these also.
These things are totally flawed. You’ll always need it plugged in to get half decent performance and it’ll be crap as a standard laptop.
Somebody got a bargin there

My wife has an XPS and it's a fantastic hybrid with long battery life, decent games performance, great build quality, and svelte looks.

You won't get that on a budget, but it absolutely can be done.
Need a laptop this was very good price
