UPDATE 15th May: down to £869.99

UPDATE 13th May: further pricedrop, down to £899. Also, I received it 10 days ago and still didn't have the time to unbox it. I will follow up with my personal comments.

Basic gaming laptop that will offer good value for money. I saw the screen in person and it is simply stunning for a sub-£1000 machine. More models will drop in price, with the new GTX 16 series getting released, but a laptop with good 120Hz screen, efficient cooling and a decent GPU/CPU combination is what I call a good deal. It was £975 until a few days ago.

Also, go easy on me, it is my very first post here

Laptop on other thread with a 1660 ti for same price. I paid £699 for my asus 1060 laptop in summer last year from amazon, no way would I pay £1000 for one now.

Thanks for pointing that out. Is the laptop you bought the previous model, the FX504? I read from different sources that it had severe issues with thermals and throttling, this year model is a definite improvement.
I found the 1660ti laptop you are talking of, but let me highlight that:
- it's not available yet (released starting from 20th May)
- the CPU is an i5, not an i7
- it's 100 quid more expensive than this one

I bought the FX504 i7

Thermal issues seem to be mentioned by those chasing benchmark numebrs and nothign more

This has played AAA titles since I bought it without problem

Tomb raiders, Resi, Division 2
Same price at ao.com
can you link me the other 1660 ti laptop please?
Thanks OP, Costco have this also but slightly cheaper at £899.89 (membership price)

I might add that I have the FX504, it throttles if fan speed is not set to max as reducing the fan speed automatically limits the TDP available. I should mention though that just because you enable 'overboost' mode (max fan mode) the fan still varies in speed based on the core temperature so is not always on the highest fan speed.

For anyone thinking about the 504 my laptop has also performed very well, more than pleased with it, especially for the price. I might add I opted for the i5 8300 quad core (8 threads) as this will draw less power than the 8750H and most reviewers who complained of throttling issues were using the 6 core 8750H FX 504.

Just thought it might be worth a mention for anyone interested!

Edit: This laptop is of course the 505, the above was to address the comments made by pacioc.

Hi Frank, Amazon adjusted accordingly, now it's £899 (at the time of writing)

Scratch that, now it's even lower at £869.99
