    8GB on a gaming machine is a joke, 32 or 64

    Not a gaming laptop...

Too slow a graphics CPU, not enough RAM and a very average CPU.

what spec in particular means every game will fail to run on this?

Got this last time it was this low

    Excellent buy. I added another 8gb ram & a 2nd SSD

    Screen is remarkably good.

The volume was rubbish. Took me an hour to work out it has a graphic equalizer & then sorted the sound out perfectly.

Solid Laptop. Not going to break or warp under normal use.

You happened to ever try it with Premiere Pro/ Pro Tools etc?

    Battery life?

2 hours normal use. 1 hour gaming. Not great but I got a 200watt output power bank for travelling with it

Can the storage be upgraded on this? Also Ram too? Looking to pull the trigger but want to make sure this is a good investment as like all of us.
    Avatar
    Yep both can be.

Do these machines have a blu-Ray player and DVD writer?
    Avatar
    No it's not 2007

You can add £65 for expert installation. For a laptop.
I'd be tempted to pay the extra just to see what's involved :P Heat added.

Oh go on someone has to ask it. It may as well be me.
    Can it run crysis?
    ...I'm showing my age now.....
    Avatar
I’m sure it can, if not try playing Crysis on GeForce Now, it’s awesome.

The helicoper image on the screen is the best description of this laptop's fan noise.

    Is it that loud?

Add £20 to the price for an extra 8gb of memory

I have this laptop, bought it 2 months.

I play FARCRY 5 and a bunch of other older games on it and it runs nicely.

Fans are very quiet. I don't think the sound/volume goes very high? The battery life is not good.

Its a breath of fresh air compared to my old i7 930, gtx 560. (edited)

I'd have jumped on it at £500. Just can't bring myself to pay anymore for this.
    Avatar
It's £49 difference. Just lay off the fancy coffee and avacados. Not only will you be able to buy this laptop, you could buy a house too. A nice house if you sacrifice Netflix too.

I have been using the ASUS TUF FX505GM 1060 Gaming Laptop since release for FS2020... Had 8gb Ram & it ran o.k , spent £100 & put 32gb In & it's much better. This should breeze it .

Tempted by this, decent value for money or worth spending a bit more?
  22. Avatar
Good deal although definitely worth paying extra for the 16GB ram / 1TB SSD
  23. Avatar
Can this run warzone at decent fps?
    Avatar
Yes it can but on low to medium graphical settings. And also it depends what you mean by decent fps….check for videos on YouTube.
  24. Avatar
Best price I've seen all round recently. The 3050 isn't bad but 4GB may be an issue sooner than it should, funny that the best prices are after Black Friday. Pretty solid machine for the money all things considered. The Intel CPU is probably better for gaming anyway though either would be fine.

Seems to have slipped to 1 to 2 months delivery time now... (edited)

It did drop to this price for a few hours on the run up to black Friday. By the time my mate got round to purchasing the same day it went back up to £799

How does this compare to MacBook Pros? The way people talk about MacBooks like they’re terrible value makes me think something in this price range must be as good or better but don’t see comments to that effect.

I asked this in another deal understand if I get ignored. Cheers.
    Avatar
MacBooks are more for MacOS specific apps and people who need to crunch video/music editing.

This laptop and a Macbook will both run Office 365/Chrome/YouTube/Netflix etc. exactly the same.

This laptop will game better due to the graphics card.

Can anyone advise as to whether this is VR (Occulus Quest 2) compatible or if there are any laptops around this price range that are?

Looks a good deal for a gaming laptop for 99% of the users - my question is what is considered a good gaming laptop as some have said this is lacking?

Any ideas on what the cheapest laptop/desktop pc I could get for an 8 year old mainly for Roblox and Roblox studios. Have an iPad but Roblox studios does not work on that.

    Have a look at Itzoo

Really great deal at this price. Nice mid range gaming laptop at a very affordable price. (edited)
  31. Avatar
Could I play darktide using this?
  32. Avatar
You will need to replace theb8GB with 16GB and 4GB vram not enough for modern 1st person shooters. A 6GB vram like 5600m, 6600m or 3060 handles 1080p quiet good (edited)
  33. Avatar
i would use this fo rthe occasional it of gaming but mostly just for work which is basically running online apps like google sheets etc with about 5 different browsers open. Would the battery really only last a couple of hours?
  34. Avatar
If you look at the reviews, it has been £549 for a while.
  35. Avatar

Can you plug this into a larger screen and external speakers etc?

    Of course

Wouldn't recommend buying a gaming laptop if you are bothered by really loud fans even with headphones on. Especially if you're not planning to move around with it. In which case get yourself a decent gaming pc with all the peripherals for around the same price as a decent gaming laptop (£900+) and a much more comfortable experience gaming/browsing the internet

    Would this run farmville?
