This is the reviving of an older thread which everyone were excited about but disappointed about Bhs Direct/Debenhamplus who had this offer @ £566 delivered. This one is a little bit dearer at ~£609.99 delivered. Amazon is always reliable and very good customer service and returns are easy. Guys remember to go for Zenbook UX303LA-R4338H. There are other variations of this laptop with worse specs. So hopefully , do get this one.

Credit goes to gizmo2501 who is the one pointed this deal in my previous post. Thanks!

Yes i did. I suggest you buy it too and cancel if you change your mind within a few days. Else it might go out of stock quickly. But I dont wanna pay £200 more for Dell at the moment. Plus I was not able to join Dell VIP for a discount code. Anyway, I could use this extra cash in my pocket for other things.

No, they were asking £100 more. I was not willing to pay the extra than the original price.

On paper if you compare specs you getting more longer battery life with lenovo, but older cpu. the keyboard on the yoga 2 pro is not my favourite, then you need to look at the weight. if you have some extra cash this month, i suggest you order both then because Amazon is so good with returns you could simply return one after few days of trials.
But if you wanna go deeper, its best advised you go to the owners' forums of these two laptops. Remember there are variants of both so try to get the specific according to the right model number.

I was looking for an Asus ultrabook for work, but I couldn't find any listed with Windows 8.1 Pro (needs to join a domain). Is this model (or any other Asus ultrabook model) available with the Pro option?

Not that I can recall seeing, you'd need to buy pro separately and install it yourself or choose an ultrabook from a company that sells business laptops, Dell and I'm sure others will sell their consumer Ultrabooks like the XPS 13 with Windows 8 Pro.

John

I bought this for £700 when it came out (Only a few weeks ago, darn!). It's a great little thing. A tad heavier than your macbook air. It's about as fast, since the processor's better but the hard drive's worse. Backlit keys are nice and it's pretty responsive. The worst thing is the mousepad, but I think that's a growing trend. I always have my thumb on the left click, so when I want to scroll, I end up zooming in/out. And there's NO single scrolling. Only two finger scrolling, a habit I'm finding hard to break!

I use this for programming and it copes well with multiple VS 2013, about 20 chrome tabs open, and a few other bits and bobs. Seems to cope well with graphics-intensive stuff, too. Doesn't get hot at all!

Another bad-ish point, it seems to have trouble maintaining a connection with my NAS. Not sure if it's windows 8 or the laptop, but my old samsung laptop running 7 never had any issues. It drops and reconnects pretty much instantly, but when you're torrenting, it proves a problem as you have to manually restart the torrent if it drops connection to the drive.

All in all, very happy with the purchase, and punched myself when I saw the Debenhams deal and this! Could've saved so much money!

the display lets it down. its mediocre.

Amazing what people will pay for a laptop without a dvd drive and with only a 13" screen, only an i7 dual core, integrated graphics, about the smallest SSD you can reasonably fit,
if you call it an ultrabook

At least it has three Usb3 ports

Do people still use dvd drives

OOS now.

Dell's business section does indeed sell the XPS 13 with Pro for 729+VAT (874.80 inc VAT). A check on Asus's site shows that this UX303LA model isn't even offered with Pro, which is surely a missed opportunity? The newer UX305 model *is* offered with Pro, but very few UK sites have it (laptopsdirect do it for about 785 inc VAT/del, but have a 4 week delivery time!).

It's going to run Photoshop. Photoshop can require lots of ram depending on what you're editing.

what alternative can you suggest at this price ? Im curious to hear your answer

It's one of the best displays bar none on this model it's IPS not the TN of some of the HD+ models also the spec is incorrect as it is not the 5550 its the 5500 - which is better processor but slightly slower graphics.

The display is better than the mac air and almost as good as the pro! I

You need a torx t5 screwdriver and have to remove the glued on feet to upgrade but you can upgrade - I have a 1tb hard drive and 12gb of ram inside.

Please note this is the 5500 not 5550 i7 - the Amazon title is an error it starts at 2.4ghz.

It will run photoshop - but I upgraded to 12gb / 1tb

I cant believe the SSD market is still as confusing as ever... any thoughts?

Also looking to add a 4GB RAM stick to make it 8GB

I will stop looking too much into it and just get the EVO 850

How easy is it to upgrade the SSD and memory on these laptops? (for future offers)

One 4gb slot is soldered. So u can either the 2gb with a 4gb or an 8gb ram. Make sure u have right tiny set of screw drivers.

Out of stock now sadly. Looks awesome.
