Iv'e got the Asus VG248Q and it's rock solid, had it for a couple of years running at 144Hz, 1mS refresh. Unbelievable for gaming, but also great for general stuff. The only problem I ever had was one of the poxy Microsoft updates on windows 10 last month...it caused display adaptor/monitor to disconnect for a couple of secs (black screen). Ended up using a backup from December to fix (was a nightmare, tried everything to fix). Yet, I had some guy the other day on other thread having a go at me for posting a comment about office 2019 keys on ebay (genuine keys MAK version) and saying how I was stealing and how fab Microsoft are...ho hum. But heat added, Asus are great monitors in my opinion...

How did you fix it? Does that mean you're stuck on that version of Windows?
I have a similar issue 3 sec of black screen every once in a while, always blamed it on a dodgy cable

Hi, I actually upgraded from windows 7 professional to windows 10 professional just before Christmas. When I had everything working properly, I prudently made a complete backup of system drive (in my case C: drive) using Aomei backupper software. The update that caused problems was KB4535996 (an optional update, wish I'd never clicked it) - it failed to complete correctly. I initially used sytem restore and got it back up and running, but it corrupted Chrome - I had to re-install Chrome. Then the fun started with random black screen for a couple of secs. I found no way to correct it, and believe me I tried everything. I eventually bit the bullet, backed up all my recent stuff and used the backup image I'd previously made in December. Now it is ok again. I suggest you check your display driver is latest version, look at power management settings and check if KB4535996 has been installed. You can remove this update if you have it installed, but I would suggest backing up everything beforehand. If you trawl the internet about this update and your problem, you'll find lot's of advice.
Hope this helps...

It is decent, just the response time is slower than most at 4ms, rather than 1ms which you won’t really notice.

But the killer for me is it’s only FHD 1080p, you should am for something closer to 4K

great, thanks, thought samsung screens were supposed to be good, so was just wondering about that one, that's true, i'm looking around for a decent 4k, but the price might be a bit too steep to warrant for it atm, any recommendations nevertheless?

Thanks for the recommendation! i've not really set myself a budget (probably should!), mainly just gathering information atm, unless if there's some incredible deal, i'd probably jump at it, but it's not completely necessary for me to grab a new monitor at this moment in time, but like you said, i'd probably like to look into a 4k display just because I think i might as well get something a bit better and for future proofing as i'm not one to upgrade and change monitor's often. Just out of curiosity, how much would a decent 4k monitor with 144mhz refresh rate set me back? thanks again

Well I was looking for a 4K monitor for future proofing too as I will probably get a PS5 and they go for around £380-£600 depending on size and brand

Not normally a fan of Very but for a 4K monitor, this doesn’t look too bad? I think the only issue you’d have is customer care if anything happens afterwards...

It’s actually really good minus the refresh rate being 60hz

Ahhh ok! I have a Dell U2518D for work - I’d recommend that for colour and vibrancy but probably not for gaming if you need the refresh rate and 4K. Although, when you sit at a desk 1m away from the monitor, can your eyes notice the difference? Genuine question, not being argumentative etc. Thanks!

Dunno, but with games hitting 140fps on less intense graphics even on games with heavy graphics higher end card can do average 80fps or 60fps+ you would imagine the 60hz monitor will be limited some what. Some frames will be skipped. For everything else the refresh rate won’t matter.
