what a cockish comment

Totally ice-cold as it does not have a cup holder for my Apple iJuice!

Get a grip, its hot as hell !!!!!! Have some heat.

No miniport = dealbreaker for serious computing professionals.

I'm amazed you even looked at this since it's too cheap to be Apple friendly. Multiply the price by at least 2 to have it for your platform.

Perhaps you should tell Apple to back industry supported connections liked it used to (i.e. HDMI) instead of creating its own pointless types (i.e. MiniDisplay Port)

Lol, "serious computing professionals"? No mate, people who get ripped off because they think the design of macs are "great", no argument there but they are not my style however they shouldnt be so bloody expensive, i can build a serious pc for about half the price of a similar spec mac and whats the difference? Forced to use mac o/s but with my pc it can use anything (linux!).

MINIport is not a standard and never will be as it catches on fire to often, havent you seen the reports?

great price and nice displays from ASUS as usual.

Does anyone know if the stand is adjustable if so I'll have one.

HOT,HOT,HOT,HOT! Regardless of what Apple fan boys say.

Voted hot, but technically the offer is expired/spam due to the incorrect price - needs to be updated to 122.40.

Seems very tempting & also I noticed a D-link wireless N starter kit (router+dongle) at under £40 (also plus postage, but i presume free if ordering the monitor...).

More info on the product. retailing at £161.55 inc vat

Apple computers cost more because they deliver more computing power for your money. Try buying a Dell or HP with the same top class processors, memory and display panels for anything less than Apple charges. It's pretty much impossible.

Miniport is a superior standard and I have never heard of a computer catching fire because of the display port. How ridiculous.

No its a fixed hight stand and only allows the monitor to be tilted

so of the 99% monitors here on hotukdeals your going to vote cold as they do not feature apple's miniport, i havent even heard of mini port till you mentioned it. I dont think i will even bother to look up what it is since im guess its going to die soon, HDMI is the way forward! Price without delivery is good, price including delivery is average so i voted lukewarm.

LOL. Why don't you just build a computer with top class processors and memory and gfx and monitors??? Will come way under £700. If you choose to buy from dell or HP you are a noob and deserve to be ripped, but apple RIP BIGTIME for what they offer. I am a web developer and if i want an apple OS i'll just dual install it to my rig instead of forking out for an architecture that is maybe slightly better, but only for people that want style and have too much cash.

If I went to a job interview and they used macs I would tell them where to go as it is not industry standard, I have never worked for a company that does not use macs. Screw graphic designers.

Don't get me wrong Apple have the right idea, but the way they market their products is sh*t, i love ipods and iphones but will never pay 2 grand for a macbook or a rig that i can build for half that.

This deal is HOT, Anybody know about the swivel/rotate rate on this if it has any? If it does i will probably buy.

In the words of Charlie Brooker.

"Macs are glorified Fisher-Price activity centres for adults; computers for scaredy cats too nervous to learn how proper computers work; computers for people who earnestly believe in feng shui." :whistling:

On the topic of the monitor, may pick one up as I need a screen for a second 360.

Mactard! lol... I'll have to remember that one! :w00t:

Any computing 'professional' wouldn't as petty to dismiss one type of computer so easily, Macs and PC's both have their strengths.

I seriously doubt that joeybutterface is a 'professional'.

I have this monitor and its excellent !
payed a bit more for it about a month ago

Macs lololololololol

Big problems with Pixmania (personally I wouldn't buy a damn thing from these people) is, they're French - no, thats not anti-French talking, just all their goods have european 2 pin plugs.
Secondly, they are among the most EXPENSIVE postage costs of all e-sites.
Buy if you wish.
I wouldn't.
Bon Chance.

Hot, Mac owners can't use it

Got one myself from novatech, does the job great, prefer it over my Hyundai W240D for the instant setting switching between games & films (and 1/3 of the price)

Aren't you the guy who came here wanting to buy a 22" monitor for £122, and then got sore because it didn't cram enough features in to its price point? Just sayin', y'know, that this doesn't particularly make you come off as one overflowing with funds.

Now, back to your turnips.

I have no interest in buying Asus junk. I only use Apple cinema displays. And I wouldn't use a display smaller than 24" with a minimum resolution of 1920x1200.

It's still a cold deal for me and many millions of computer users who demand miniport support. Miniport is the future. If you want to future-proof your purchase you should make sure your product supports top notch connectivity standards.

Pfft, hardly. What actual advantages does Miniport offer over existing standards?

Superior picture quality, increased response times, eliminates potential for interference and its an open standard meaning cheaper to produce parts and support.

OK I think joeyBUTTerface has said enough to dig their own hole.

To clarify for the rest of us, Mini DisplayPort is NOT open standard. It requires a license from Apple, which happens to CURRENTLY be fee free. See ]http//de…pdf

No one, except Apple, has been daft enough to use it.
