Not a bad price. Would of been perfect with a full HD display though!

Very very tempted with this, and that price..Wow!
Time to consider if full HD matters to me
I was just about to order, as it sounded like the perfect machine, 'til I read the poor display resolution

i5-8250u is the exact cpu

1366 x 768
Having bought the 256gb version from Amazon I can say the screen is quite dull being anti glare so when combined with the resolution it is something to think about.
Shame about the screen, otherwise would had bought. Still decent price if you dont mind the screen

Often if the listing doesn't mention the screen resolution it's because like this it's rubbish.
Ordered, I’m not too fussed about screen and other specs are really good for the price. Don’t forget 2% quidco also.

Thanks Johnsaab1

Oh calm down.
The OP makes no mention of the screen resolution, hence it's useful that someone else pointed out the lack of full HD.

Maybe you should direct your negativity to the person who created this thread and berate them for lack of full details?

Careful of Intel CPUs for the time being.
Anyone know if it has a spare SSD slot?

Why??? Can you explain and not just throw random mysteries.

Seeing as this flaw has existed for ages (10 years apparently) and affects windows, mac and linux there's little point worrying about it until they patch it (if they do) - computers are inherently prone to attacks, so not yet time to move to AMD I feel

It all looks great except the screen res which ruins it somewhat. However, probably alright for older people who don't want things to be too small on the screen!

The flaw has existed for ages, yes. But it's not just that the flaw that is the problem, it's that the fixes are apparently hitting performance quite drastically. Certainly not worth abandoning ship but perhaps worth holding off to see what happens before buying new.

Yes remains to be seen what performance hit happens. Cynics might wonder if this impact is a new way to make us get new CPU's because there's so little need to upgrade so often these days.

Rumours are, about 7-8% performance drop for most people, around 25-30% for VM usage.

So? A laptop should be full HD because it looks awful otherwise.

Even low spec android phones have full HD screens.....
Fantastic specs and an ideal laptop... apart from the screen. There is no excuse for selling something this low these days. 99% of people would be better off with a better screen, and some other small aspect made cheaper.

I think it is just used to keep prices high on higher priced models. The difference in cost is so tiny but it makes a good reason to add £££ to the price.
Looked stonking until I saw the screen resolution.

Depends on the screen size. Ideally you can at least 160 PPI. So 1366 x 768 is fine at 10/11 inches.

If it had full HD I would have bought this, ridiculous not to have it. Kills it
seems so cheap for a current gen i5, i get that the screen is awful but overall why is the price so low, what am i missing?

Sounds like a very big patch and a major design cock up. Buy maybe great for retailers as people upgrade over the next 2 yrs...

https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/lenovo-ideapad-320s-14ikb-14-laptop-grey-10169401-pdt.html £50 more for full HD.

Battery life not as good. But definitely comparable and worth considering. Depends what you need most.

And there's currently £30 at topcashback for Currys laptops over £400 so potentially only £20 more for a similar spec with Full HD
I have this with a 256GB drive. Two things let it down, the screen and the touch pad. Everything else is spot on, especially the aesthetics.
I really love the speed of this little laptop.
Wow at 320 degrees in little time but the same laptop reached only 84 degrees when £20 more.

It shows how when something catches momentum it can be a different story on here.

How do you compare battery life objectively? Is it easy to get some industry benchmark? Thanks

Because it's 2018 and not 2008 all displays should be at least 1080 nowadays, would you buy a phone with this low Res?

If it does, the Lenovo 320s at pc world is £479 with same specs and full hd
