They new ryzen processors offer incredible battery life and performance and have generally reviewed extremely well.

Designed with an AMD Ryzen 5 processor, 8GB RAM, a 15.6” Full HD display, a 256GB Solid State Drive, and a battery that will last up to 10 hours, the ASUS VivoBook 15 laptop provides portability, along with stylish looks. You’ll be able to complete work assignments, stream shows and check out your favourite web pages.

AMD Ryzen 5
With an AMD Ryzen 5 processor, you'll easily handle day-to-day tasks like word processing, image editing, web browsing and some casual gaming.

What is RAM?
RAM (Random Access Memory) is different to the permanent storage provided by hard disk drives (HDD), solid state drives (SSD) or memory cards in your equipment. RAM is used by your device to temporarily store data to carry out everyday operations. The more RAM your machine has, the faster you can expect it to open and run programs.

A solid performer
Featuring 8GB of RAM, this computer has enough power for casual tasks like web browsing and word processing as well as more demanding jobs like complex spread sheets and image manipulation. You'll be able to run a healthy number of windows at once without any obvious lag or slowdown.

Solid State Drive
Solid State Drives (SSD) give you the capacity to store your documents and media, while ensuring quicker and reliable access to your files and programs. SSDs are far faster than regular hard drives and ingeniously, they don't use moving parts to work, which makes them far more dependable and also quieter.

AMD Radeon Vega 8 graphics
AMD’s Radeon Vega 8 will enable you to enjoy some casual (web-based) gaming or classic older titles. You may be able to run more modern titles with reduced effects and frame rates.

Great entertainment
Thanks to its 15.6”, Full HD NanoEdge display that provides an 88% screen-to-body ratio, viewing your high-resolution photos, films and videos will be a pleasure. It has been designed to convey immersive images and it makes for a great casual gaming and multimedia experience.

Handy features
The ASUS VivoBook 15 has an ErgoLift hinge, which has been precision-engineered to provide a smooth action that will hold the display securely. Additionally, the ErgoLift hinge adds a tilt to your keyboard to offer a more comfortable typing position.

Connecting your other devices
The USB ports allow for fast data transfer, while the HDMI port enables the option for large screen presentations. The SD card slot offers a convenient way to upload your photos and videos. Bluetooth can help to send data wirelessly between devices.

Is it a TN screen like the Vivobook 14" posted earlier today ?
I read the colour, contrast and viewing angles are poor on this display

I assume so - if it was IPS it would say so, but the specs don't mention it. That alone would put me off

So what's the screen panel type then? Because this is really a factor between a deal and no deal

From couple of sites it says "15.6″ (16:9) LED-backlit FHD (1920×1080) 60Hz Anti-Glare IPS-level Panel, 45% NTSC"
Tn screen and apparently ram is not upgradable or only has 1 slot, could 100 percent confirm if its soldered. Either way no free slot. Far too many poor laptops around with bad screens that theyre hoping people buy just because it says ssd.
Ordered. Thanks. Hot!

Does this have the same 2 year warranty on it as the JL offer?
Is the Lenovo IdeaPad 330S at AO £349 not better value? Genuine question as I am in the market to buy one.

I am not so sure it is ips. The spec table on the second link is talking about a different model. This is a -254t. The spec in the link is Asus VivoBook 15 X512DA-EJ438T

The one you linked has the last gen equivalent processor. The new one has better battery life and performance. For 50 quid there isn't much in it to justify the older one imho.

Tbh 8gb of ram is a pretty decent amount for most people. This laptop also has a m.2 slot and space for a 2.5" hdd which I thought was cool.

There are two variants and this one isn't confirmed to be either. Its still an amazingly good laptop.
Does anyone else hate full keyboards on laptops?

How does this one compare to it? They look pretty similar in specs...

Need a good 14" laptop with IPS panel for movies... Any ideas?
So do we know if this has tn or ips screen?
for everybody who interested, asus site shows "60Hz Anti-Glare IPS-level Panel with 45% NTSC" for ASUS VivoBook 15 X512DA models, and IPS-level doesnt mean IPS display, its most likely good TN panel.

IPS level panel? Is that like on eBay for jackets where they say authentic looking leather?

Sounding more like a TN panel to me, marketing speak trying to confuse people.

No, I don't think so. After reading some negative feedbacks from Amazon.
Thermal throttling while gaming, noisy fan and a poor screen. Yes. It's a TN.
You can Dual RAM the Acer, and it has better cooling, only missing a UsB type C port.
