Asus VivoBook Max 15.6" Laptop Includes Wired Mouse And Bag - Silver.

This particular model from ao has the N4200 Pentium fitted. I was thinking of this for my son who uses a laptop for basic tasks, streaming, & football manager 2017 etc.

I'm positive it would suffice for him, but, if anyone out there with a good tech knowledge would like to add anything, then please do so.

With the ao £20 cashback it works out at just £259! Seems good to me but am no expert!

Football Manager 2017 is actually very CPU intensive as there's a lot of number crunching and waiting around while the game processes / calculates match data and results. It's slow even on a Core i5 and the N4200 is noticeably less powerful.

if you have the budget (approx £100 more) there is a costco laptop deal for Asus with 8gb ram and i5 processor - although might be overkill in this case.

Hi Sunnyhot. That's the other one on my radar mate, cheers. After the £20 ao cashback it makes it £136 difference in price, (but a penny) I also have to join up as an online Costco customer for a further saving. 31826589-cDLcY.jpg31826589-yEFaS.jpg

70 percent if laptops are these days. In fact most under 400 are. Unless refurbished. Or you can find me a decent deal?

They're only low res TN because they're legacy tech from years ago and people buy them not knowing any better.

There are loads of IPS 1080p based laptops these days about for less than £400.

Would this suit for a student? My husband is about to start university on an engineering course. He'll have reports and most likely some software to use regarding circuits etc.

It likely would be OK, the CPU is not a great performer in this laptop, but should still cope. I specialise in selling refurbished laptops, you can get a lot lot more for your money with a used laptop. I would think that if you scout about a bit more you'll find better deals than this one. Don't let the laptop bag and mouse fool you they cost the seller about £10.

It will do a job, but if I was a student, I'd look for something lighter and slimmer. Constantly lugging a 15.6" laptop around the place is a bit of a nightmare particularly if he has a load of textbooks with him as well.

Don't know how complicated his circuit diagrams would be but I'd be looking for a 1080p resolution IPS screen as you can fit more on screen as well it being a bit sharper for any pernickety design work.

No, this is a bit underpowered. And he might want something with a dedicated GPU if he's using any CAD software

Been looking. For a 14 inch one. No chance. Can you help? I don't mean a dodgy brand either.

Yes chance. Just click on the Computers section on here. There have been loads of deals on 13.3/14" laptops.

Didn't see any good overall ones under 400. I've got the alert on. Thanks.
Nice budget laptop, though Quad Core processors are now outdated.
