Any actual Asus laptop users here? I'm after a laptop for my Dad but I myself have only ever used very high end HP/Dells for work. Apart from an Acer at home once, but we don't talk about that...
Metal body, backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader - source: the Asus site. Is someone going to tell me is has an IPS screen too?!

What's he going to do with it? As maybe a good Chromebook will suit him. Not a fan of Asus personally and this laptop doesn't seem to have anything particularly special - firmly midrange but spec is fine.

Thanks, I've considered Chromebook but he needs a full replacement for a desktop
Bought two of these for my daughters homework about a year ago - great laptops, slim form and light - do the job and look good too.

Over £40 less. The build is also more metal based. That's not to say the other laptop is not a good deal. I would probably choose the other if I were deciding between both.

This is the lowest price you can buy this laptop. Ultimately that's the reason it should be a deal.

Both metal/alum alloy chassis, but one so much smaller and lightest 15.6 inch in the planet and comes with touch screen. In fact you also get £50 vouchers from acre website I believe so that’s more than covers the extra 40
Which is the other one in consideration here? Is it the Acer Swift 5 @ PC World Curry's. I need a new laptop these seem good on specs (no gaming) but am not sure of build quality.
Thanks Nicolas for confirming. That's in consideration. Seen a similar Acer model at Curry's. Feather weight and seems like a toy.

Found the build quality of the Asus slightly better.
Have used Sony and Samsung at home. Work one have been Lenovo, HP or Dell. Like Dell build. Seems robust.

It may not be an IPS, from the poor Amazon owner feedbacks.
They never state the screen spec properly with Asus.

The Acer build quality has distinct flex in the chassis and is not built in the same way in terms of the metal components. It's in the reviews
