Cracking deal from amazon.

Unfortunately it's only got a 1366x768 display but for the price I think that's acceptable. These 8th gen processors are meant to be much better than previous gen. Who knows what will be announced later in the day but I would say this is the best deal in this price range at the moment.

  • Powered by Intel's 8th Generation i5 Processor
  • Ultra-thin metal body at just 17.9 mm thin
  • 14 inch ultra-slim bezel HD screen
  • Backlit keyboard
  • 80% screen to body ratio, meaning 14 inch screen but 13.3 inch footprint

If you really want a 1080p display, this HP laptop for £679 is pretty similar but has a 1080p display and Geforce 940MX 2GB GPU store.hp.com/UKS…NTB

Excellent deal there as well, only difference is 128 GB vs 256 GB. I would say for £30 more 256 GB is worth it.

Even better tomorrow Dell will have an 8th gen i7 1080p 256 gb ssd for £549
hotukdeals.com/dea…788
Only thing I'd say for that is that it's 15 inch and weighs 800g more than this but if you don't care about that I would go for the Dell over this

I know it says 1366x768 in the spec section, but the from the manufacturer section says "14-inch Full HD display". Full HD normally means 1080p, right? Does anyone know which is right?

Says 1366x768 here, apologies if I have it wrong. Does it matter too much at this size for general browsing etc.?

That seems to confirm it. Although the "features" section on this site says "full HD" too. Annoyingly misleading. And you're potentially right, but I'd be doing video editing on it so the better resolution would be useful. It's not essential, but it's a slight downside to an otherwise excellent machine.

SAY NO TO 1366x768 ON LAPTOPS, AT ANY PRICE

Have spoken to an agent on amazon who advised me that the screen is in fact Full HD. WHAT A BARGAIN!

I just got advised the opposite. Waiting this out. Will go for the dell deal at 1pm which has the added benefit of being an i7 if this isn't full HD confirmed. What a mess Amazon have made of this listing.

Looking like it's not full HD. Shame :-( oh well let's hope Dell have enough stock for tomorrow.

Hmm, we'll have to see, I've ordered it. If it's not then it will just have to be sent back but worth a punt I think

Although on asus' website for this model there is a full hd model under the configurations available, which I'm assuming would be tied to the higher i5 or i7 chips, so hopefully it is a full HD one!

Spoke to Amazon too. The guy said he couldn't find the exact info in on the Amazon site, agreed it's contradicting. So I spent time on hold whilst he contacted ASUS. They confirmed FHD. Worth a punt guys.

This is what it shows on the Asus site.

Me:Hello what is the resolution on this laptop? amazon.co.uk/gp/…...(See full link)
lovesh:Please elaboarate your issue with this item?
elaborate*

Me:Can you tell me what the resolution of the display is?

lovesh:I have checked and can see that scree resolution on this laptop is 1366x768 pixels
you can find more details for this item on : amazon.co.uk/gp/…...(See full link)
under the head product details.

Me:Some parts of the page say FHD and full hd is mentioned in one of the descriptions.
Like the second product image says FHD
So is it falsely advertised?

lovesh:I understand your concern could you please send me the link where it is shown FHd.
FHD*

Me:Nano-Edge 14" display
Fitting a 14-inch Full HD display into a frame size that’s typical of a 13-inch laptop isn’t easy — but the ultra-thin bezel of the Nano Edge display makes it possible.
This is on your site
And if you look at the image above it you'll see FHD on the image
lovesh:Please allow me a moment while I check this for you.

Me:Thanks

lovesh:You are welcome.
Thanks for waiting.
I have checked I assure you that if it is given as full HD then you will get it.
And if you will not satisfied with the quality of this item you are welcome to return this item for a full refund as we have extended our return window till 31st Jan 2018

Useless :-( I have no confidence in this chat.

I may now have to buy! Will there be anything as good as this until March (i am away on holiday for 2 months so wont use it)

I heard the opposite from Asus directly where they have categorically stated it is 768p: twitter.com/ASU…312

Hi Niko, the VivoBook S410 is the 768p. The ZenBook 14 is Full HD. That must the confusion as they're listed together. Apologies for this

Annoying!

The thing is, there is more than one version of the S410. On Asus's website it lists a version with a FHD screen. So a sweeping statement like that doesn't really make sense. Anyway, what is there to lose? If it's not then just send it back. No issue really.

They have removed everything about Full HD and FHD. Even the second image that had FHD in is now gone.

Anyone bought this? is it worth to wait till Monday for more offers?
I'm not bothered that much about resolution.

I ordered at around 3 am Friday and received today. I can confirm that the maximum resolution is 1366x768. Amazon has it advertised as FHD, so I can return. But laptop display so far is acceptable, will see how I get on. Good looking light laptop, and quad core, with backlit keyboard, 8GB RAM, 256 GB disk, but 240 usable. Intel Core i5-8250U @ 1.60 GHz, 1800 MHz, 4 Cores, 8 Logical Processors.
