sorted byI'm all for reasonably priced budget machines... but the N4000 is already at the cusp of what's usable in Win 10.
Nope, they have loads of them
The problem will as much be to do with the eMMC storage adding a 2nd bottle neck.
I bet most buyers gave up and sent them back when Windows update was running, forever and forever. (edited)
I've ran Mint on much lower hardware and felt it is fine for basic computing needs. I love Linux so I'm probably a bit bias but Mint is good for a Windows style experience. I wouldn't dual boot. Try Linux for a bit, you can always put Windows back on.
I would assume you can, that would also work fine on this device for basic computing needs.
No it isn't. The processor does everything badly. Very, very slow. Spend a little extra on something better. They always have loads of these which have been returned.
Windows S hasn’t existed for a long time. Windows S mode is just Windows with the default set to only get software via the Windows Store.
Why they were all returned.... People were returning as faulty because they are so slow
S Mode uses up 5GB of the hard drive. Windows 10 is 15GB plus. I think Microsoft backs up to the cloud too on S, Chrome Os like. (edited)
In all honesty, I'd wait for a refurb Chromebook at around the £100 mark. Yes it's a touch more £, but at least you'll have a device which just works without the faff.
I've only ever used Windows, I was therefore also wondering if you could run a dual boot set up or wouldn't it be capable? Thanks
Can it be installed? (edited)
In what terms?
Is it not OK for general web browsing and Microsoft Office work?
