Not bad as it has full hd screen. I'm guessing ram can be increased? In which case not bad.

Can someone confirm if ram can indeed be increased?

Most of what you list doesn't need much in terms of resources, but as soon as you have a ton of tabs open, image stuff or generally lots of things at once, you'll notice things slow up/stall. RAM is so cheap that it just makes no sense to not get at least 8GB for Windows 10. I never understand why manufacturers cut corners here.

I don't think they cut corners. I am aware more RAM is better. Have 6 tabs open now and do not feel the speed is affected. In normal circumstances you don't need more than 2-3 tabs open at the time. Extra 4gb will probably boost the price by £100. I think these devices should exist, there are lots of people who do not have money, or they need a laptop for basic things.

Oh I agree we need cheaper devices, but no way would swapping out a 4GB stick for an 8GB be £100 extra, especially with their buying power. I have about 10+ tabs open at anyone time easily, but everyone is different for sure.

You are right, no way swapping a 4GB RAM for a 8GB RAM will be £100. Unfortunately, if you don't do it yourself, this is what you pay. I have not seen many brand new laptops with 8GB RAM for under £400. And if you add more RAM, you will start thinking at IPS, more storage and so on, so the price will go considerably up. More RAM and more powerful CPU makes sense, but expectations can be too high sometimes. I've posted a few days ago a deal for a HP laptop i5 8th gen, 8gb ram and 512gb storage. Under £400 and people still have an issue it is not IPS. If it was IPS, they would have wanted touch screen and so on. The HP I posted is only £50-75 more than this one but still did not get this much heat, despite the fact the specs are well above this one.

My Acer Aspire S13 notebook i3 4GB RAM was a flagship device 4 years ago when I've got it. Expensive but part of it was due its form factor. I've got the cheapest one, i3 CPU.
I replaced it this month with an Asus Zenbook i5 8th gen 8GB RAM. Sort of flagship, but again due to its form factor. There are better devices out there.

While I am happy with it, I have to say in terms of speed and how it performs when tabs open at the same time I barely notice a difference. Perhaps 16GB RAM will make a clear difference, I do not know. Luckily, I've got my Asus from Amazon Warehouse, with some discount, credit and so on I've paid about £400 for it. Very happy, but if I was to pay the RRP £700-800 there is no way my device is much better than the old one.

This is 4GB and I agree it has to be a must. However, most suggest 8GB of RAM should be the minimum. While double the RAM is clearly better, I disagree an i3 4GB RAM will not work well. My old one had these specs and was coping OK, got 8GB RAM now and I cannot see a major difference.
This is cold. Can get i3, 8gb ram and FHD screen for under £30

Well, my new laptop i5 8gb ram is only slightly better than my old i3 4gb ram.

You must have a different version of windows to me then, I have been running windows 10 with 4 gig of memory since release with no problems at all. Strange old world, same operating system, same memory and 2 completely different outcomes?

I'd rather save £40 and put it towards 4GB extra RAM and get this:

laptopsdirect.co.uk/-a3…asp

a generation newer processor

Granted it is a refurb and half the size of SSD but you still get 3 months warranty

Yep, better specs. But also about 15% more money, warranty only 3 months and not new. There are lots of laptops out there with better specs if you're ok to get it second hand.
