Magicbook all-day long.
Same spec as the aldi one? Except it's a 14" screen
bobster27/05/2020 17:00

Why ?

Magicbook has a full metal chassis and an IPS display, so will look a lot better and feel a lot better for the money, although the Magicbook has less storage. Also I think the Magicbook has better battery life.
Would this be able to play Dolphin/epsxe emulation at native resolution?

It's better

Not quite.
This one is about aesthetics with the chassis and form factor.
The screen on this doesn’t appear to be IPS, from the reviews at least, so is inferior.
This one does however allow the RAM to be upgraded.
Finally Aldi laptop has a 3 year warranty compared to 1. Product description doesn’t state screen type or warranty length so possibly comparable.

Yes
4gb memory soldered on, one slot can be expanded.
Got the ryzen 3 version of this for 350 at curries with 128 SSD and for a budget laptop its not bad. The body is plastic and you do notice however the performance is impressive and once you remove the S from Windows its pretty decent bang for buck. I wouldn't spend 500 on this though the Magic book is better finished.
Annoying that the CPU isn't even listed.

I think it's 5 3500U but can't find anything on the listing.

You're right it is the 3500u, it's mentioned in the description near the end. Took me a while to find, bit irritating that is not listed in the specifications
Yeah, its crazy they are advertising this without saying what processor it is! The spec site says 3500u here:
asus.com/uk/…ns/

Also, bordering false advertising when they say "the latest AMD R5 Processor" because it isn't - the AMD Ryzen™ 5 4500U is out now and this doesn't have it.
