Reviews are patchy especially thermal throttling and display criticism. Good price for the spec.
Is the processor any good? I've never bought an amd.
Got the intel version and the screen is ok for word but not for movies
No ssd install kit included with ryzen version and would cost you 20 pounds
It's been around this price for a while, one notable thing is the screen is not IPS. hotukdeals.com/dea…338 is a good deal if you can get new customers discount and spend a bit more

Lenovo s340 with almost identical spec was £315 on eBay Ebuyer on BF just for reference. So these internals have been 20% cheaper recently.

It’s an excellent machine the Lenovo.

The ryzen 5 processors are excellent, equivalent to an i5 8th gen CPU ability, but double the intel’s graphics ability.

And it’s much cheaper than intel offerings. I’m really glad there’s some competition in this marketplace again.
This deal has been reported a few times recently at this price.

This is a decent deal but there is a very similar spec laptop on ebuyer for 349. Argos are also doing a S340 for exact specs for £350. I would take the S340 over this, much better quality build and aesthetically better imo.

The weight is much higher though. This one is far more portable.

True it is the lightest of the bunch. Considering the same specs and essentially the same parts the only way to save further weight is to skimp on the battery and / or the cooling.

But if weight is a really big concern then why not get a 13 or 14 inch laptop? I use the zenbook 14 inch and it’s very light and portable.

I wouldn’t have thought the 200-300g difference would be a big difference.

I think it's 800grams heavier.

I am after a full keyboard, so smaller laptops don't work.

The battery seems similar too, you think the Asus one would be poor?
I can see where some of that extra weight for Lenovo comes from. It has an optical drive. It really annoys me if a laptop has optical drive in 2019. I haven't used it on my old laptop for years. Anyway, both laptops look worth the money.
39546950-Q2g2a.jpgI have this SSD in my current laptop. Would I be able to fit it in this one?

I dont think any of these laptops are poor. They will all function well, the processor will be quite quick. None of these have any glaring problems (as above some say the asus has a bit of poor fans/heating issues but I suspect it is relatively minor)

I think it comes down to build quality, price, asethetics. I dont think you can go wrong with any of these laptops, as long as you buy based on your requirements.

oh yeah, an optical drive, that is crazy. I suppose the ebuyer V155 laptop is meant for business so some places will need such a drive. Its a heck of a lot heavier though.
So we bought this for the missus a week ago from Amazon - we paid £330 in the end as we had some vouchers and a discount to use. Yes, the screen is very poor. This is probably the weakest point of this laptop. However you get used to it and if you do not have high expectations, it is alright. It is very bright on high settings.

Apart from that, what a machine for the price. It is very light and compact for a 15.6" laptop - not much bigger than my old 14" Yoga with thicker bezels and about the same weight. The Ryzen 5 is amazing. I have not tried gaming on it so cannot comment on throttling issues, but I did stress it a bit for a while and did not notice any throttling or loud fan noise. Looks good to me? This is not a gaming laptop so if you say it throttles when playing games, well this is not what it is intended for and I am sure not what it was designed for.

And the design is very nice for a 400 quid laptop - the thin bezels are very sexy and it looks so much better than any other laptop at this pricepoint.

At £399, best value for money on the market I believe at the moment. At £330 we paid for it - best deal I found in 2019 I believe. If you don't mind the screen, go for it.

Oh and for any of you wondering - this came from EU warehouse for me but Amazon confirmed that it does have a 3-pin UK plug on the charger and also confirmed they provide 2 year warranty, just like John Lewis.

Hi so for like £450 is there anything with a good screen ?

Not with this spec, at least nothing I saw in the last couple months. In most cases you will be sacrificing something else to get an IPS screen for this money.

Try the hp laptop selling for 369 on AO, fat superior screen
Its a 2-cell battery. I ve heard the battery does not hold very long.
Would someone be able to link me the cheapest laptop on here that would be able to run Football Manager 2020 easy enough? I'd only really use it for that and light gaming so wouldn't want to spend a fortune. Thank you if anyone's able to do so.
