Too much money for a 10th gen CPU and entry-level chassis - 11th gen is widely available now and noticeably faster, especially in video performance.

It's worse, it's just a marketing name and gimmick, an i5-1135G7 will outperform this i7-1065G7. Also this chassis is cheap and low-end even for ASUS. If you want an ASUS, worth getting at least a ZenBook really.

Yes, I rate the Huawei and Honor laptops (imo) and hold them in much higher regard than ASUS as a brand. That laptop is well specced for the money and will be faster.

Any recommendation for a portable laptop that handles virtualisation? Need to run virtual instance of full linux, not just CLI for uni work.

Search on here. Just a quick search on my phone pulled this up which is cheaper, newer and better:

Zenbooks occasionally come up around this price but I don’t rate ASUS anyway so don’t notice as much.

this is expensive for an intel 10th gen. i would try to get a Amd ryzen 5000 series as it is faster and more power efficient and would be probably cheaper

Worth getting 11th gen over 10th if possible as it can run thunderbolt 4. Probably won't make a difference to a lot of people now but should stay relevant for longer.
