The X series range of Asus laptops are cheaply made and the touchpads are a work of madness, truly awful touchpad. If you buy one and it doesn't fall apart then use a mouse instead of the touchpad. A hideous range of laptops.

what in your opinion is the best laptop for a nice touchpad with seperate physical buttons fishmaster (under £600)?

I'd disagree. I buy a lot of laptops for our primary school and many lately have bad touchpads (I think it's probably Synaptics fault who make them all). However, these Asus machines, while being a bit thin and plasticky, have proven themselves the best performers. Trackpads are responsive, screens are bright and you get a lot of machine for your money.
Be prepared to spend a good half hour deleting the shovelware off it though- particularly McAfee. Kill it with fire!

I prefer corporate/business laptops as they usually have very decent keyboards/touchpads. Look for a laptop with separate left/right keys below the touchpad instead of a combined unit. I used to have a HP Envy and the touchpad was like this one, better but still and all in one, they're awful. I guess you can get away with it on a Macbook but never found a decent one on a Windows laptop.

Good deal but I would personally wait for a deal on a laptop with an SSD (I know you can upgrade but that's more expensive)

fully agree. I'm using a business HP elitebook and the keyboard/touchpad is the best I've used up with an old Dell Studio 1555 I had

Think this x220 represents better value, especially with upgraded 3G/4G GOBI3000

I got some sort of badge for posting this deal. I feel so... validated.

whats the difference between this and s200e

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the touchpad! The problem lies with the drive. Rolling back the driver to an earlier version will completely cure the problem.
