yes, processor isnt that great but stick in a 4gb ram stick and you will be ok for basic computer tasks without lag.

Dual core Celeron 1.6 ghz 320 gigabyes hard disk. Good value I think and you can probably still legitimately 'upgrade' to horribe W8 if you really want to for about £15.
Also seems to have a bluray reader (from the Asus site)

Your not really eligible with refurbished laptops but I doubt they really enforce this.

Thanks,
But have you or anyone you know seen or bought this laptop?
It says bluray here but it's not entirely clear which model

asus.com/Not…4C/

No chance this will have a bluray drive with this lite spec - says so in the description anyway:

"DVD optical drives:
Dual layer."

This is the standard listing for a new one on their regular website at £280...

Quite probable it doesn't have the hdmi, bluetooth or usb 3.0. The manual shows ones without hdmi and it says bluetooth is only on some models and the same for usb 3.0.

Nothing mentioned about usb 3 or hdmi on the advert.

It also mentions a plain old DVD rom in the manual, if you click through to support and downloads, for some X54C models.

why not buy the HP laptops from SCH trade, a lot more spec, a lot cheaper, but no warranty, still worth a punt in my opinion,

Myjess, please could you post a link to one of these laptops. I pressume they come with OS to be comparable to this.

This lenovo ideapad was the only one up at them minute close to the price of this laptop.

Good spec! But a bit of a gamble

That does look like a good deal. I saw same machine on Tesco-outlet ebay outlet earlier for quite a bit more. Has anyone used SCH? Any good? Customer service?

Loads of deals posted on here - not bought myself, but never read anything untoward about them

BTW a Lenovo G550 is not a 'Thinkpad'...

Thinkpads are a different animal compared to the 'budget' builds. They are 'professional' grade with metal chassis etc.

Anyone can upgrade, with or without a purchase. No proof of purchase asked. MS is desparate for you to install Windows 8 because there's no way back to W7 after that (only a complete re-install of your old system).

Just because you can ignore the terms and take advantage of the fact MS isn't asking for proof doesn't mean everyone will do so. I just said refurbished computers aren't actually eligible.

Yep sorry it's an ideapad

Not really getting at you (_;) It's just they are like 'chalk and cheese' as I discovered quite recently.

A couple of months ago a mate of mine bought a true Thinkpad off Ebay about 6/7 years old and I was blown away by the quality!
He got a really great bargain IMHO - 15.6" with Core 2 Duo 2.3Ghz CPU, 2Gb RAM and 320Gb hard drive and XP Professional installed - amazing condition for a 6/7 year old laptop.

Old Thinkpads are still highly sought after for their reliability, whereas the standard Lenovo fare has been plagued with stuff like breaking hinges etc which IMO just really shouldn't happen....

Expired-Old gone! Doh

All gone or I would have had one. The ASUS X401A up on there.
