Seen advertised on TV, supposed to be £140.99 off.
I'm sure the PC experts will advise but looks decent spec. for money to me?

Not the best deal ever but decent spec for fair price. Hot from me. Average user would be very happy with this machine especially if you bought one of the many cheap ssd deals around at the moment and stuck that in it

thanks Edward. PC World/Currys added to title

Good specs for the price, saw it on TV too, was surprised to find it had a 3rd gen i5 for that price.

Some specs in the OP would be nice...

So many new laptops/tablets/phones yet Battery is never improved.

We need batteries with ground breaking life! This technology doesn't improve very well.

It's not exactly hard to find them, is it? Some people are just lazy.

U Power :-(

hot for the price but screen resolution is a joke.

Screen res is standard and you won't find higher res till at least around £500. I do actually wonder when laptops will come with the higher res screens as standard though.

Yes some people are just lazy, like people who post deals without info. We can find just about anything online but it doesn't mean we should have to hunt around for the info, but thanks all the same to the OP for the deal.

hear hear!

You can have every function you wish for, but if the battery is flat it counts for zip!

I'm always surprised that the phone manufacturers don't launch a 'Business line' version of their top models. Imagine the iPhone, with a battery that lasts for 3 days minimum, but 3mm thicker. Amongst all the users I know that would be a winner!

Dell were doing a 1080p laptop with i5 processor for £440 just recently.

Good screens will become the norm. Just takes time.

I bought the touch screen version of this about a month ago and had to return it, it would not update to windows 8.1 or infact do any updates without having to go into troubleshooting(this did not solve the 8.1 update and never managed to get the update to work). the laptop feels very cheep and the keyboard area was very boubcy and the space bar was stiff. I had alot of of wifi issues keep droping out updeted the wifi driver but still had same issue and it was this issue with the wifi card that was causing the windows update issue.

after my experience I would not recommend asus or at least the x550ca model, I returned the laptop and purchased a dell and have had no issues.

Staples had the Toshiba c55 with fourth gen i5 (4200m) bundle (decent case, x2 8gb USB sticks, WiFi mouse, McAfee) for only £399 up to last week at least, might still be there, if so I highly recommend it, got one myself been really impressed.

The laptop on its own is £460 on Amazon...

Was showing as out of stock online, but my local stores had plenty (NW London).

I would have cut and pasted some specs from PC World Curry's website but for some reason my PC wouldn't do it.
....but a single click on the link and you can see them.

Using Chrome by any chance?. Won;t do it with that one (for me) but does with Firefox and IE.

Asus make the most reliable laptops and should be anyones first choice but dont forget on most electronic and electrical items with so called massive discounts the so called discount and offer prices are mostly fake because all these major stores have model numbers specific to themselves so they can make up the massive retail price to whatever they want and then offer massive so called discounts with so called price match offers because they know that NO ONE ELSE SELLS THAT MODEL NUMBER.
Its all part of the GREAT BRITISH RIP OFF AND CON supported by governments that have no interest in how foreign companies and manufacturers are taking the British public to the cleaners.
We are not all on MASSIVE expense accounts and have golden parachute severance pay and pensions while being millionaires and directors of public companies as lots of them are.

As it's a 3rd gen processor, it has HD4000 integrated graphics. Be a lot hotter if it did have a graphics card though!

yup, but then again the price is pretty good considering its a branded unit. Only ones with this spec and dedicated gfx are lower/unknown brands.

How long is this offer on for ?

Would not buy a plug from Currys
Customer service is a joke

showing as 399 on the site?

Yep offer over now
