Bought this in Tesco Antrim, Northern Ireland tonight. The guy says there are plenty more in stock.

I checked the Knocknagoney and Glengormley stores and they or on sale at this price as well.

The specs are pretty amazing at this price. Don't want to send anyone on a wild goose chase but I rang a few other stores and they were for sale so worth checking out.

Currently listed as £399 on their website.

spec?

If you can't be bothered to google the spec you're hardly going to drag yourself down to Tesco and buy one are you?

It's not an amazing spec, it's a U version i5. Also Asus make some of the worst crappy built cheap laptops out there. This is more than good enough for general tasks, but the keyboard/touchpad and build quality will suck.

C'mon are you suggesting you could get a higher spec, better built laptop for £269?

Either post a better deal or zip it.

.....Or reading spec it seems.....

I have an Asus x550, plastic casing around screen has decided to start splitting on it's own and the trackpad also doesn't want to work after half an hour of switching it on. Real shoddy build quality, comparing it to my Acer chromebook, I wouldn't touch an Asus laptop again.

but can you get an i5 laptop for less than £300? No, so this deal is hot

it's dammit cheap. the build quality is probably not good at all but what would you expect? Its still an i5 laptop

the cheaper Asus laptops (the ones they give with phone contracts) ain't got the best build quality, but for slightly more they are almost as good quality as the HP probooks which IMO are amazing (but not cheap).
we've had our Asus for about six years and its still in good shape after a reformat.

U version Intel's are just fine, they're lower power consumption, that's all. I have a laptop and an NUC with Core I3 and I5 respectively and their performance is great. If you're worried about playing games, just stream them through STEAM from your ninja desktop

If you've got a powerline/homeplug whatever they're called network in your house, it's the next best thing to sitting at the machine. My terribly underspecced HP G6 (with one of those crummy B960 processors) streams GTA 5 nicely with approximately 11ms control lag (unuseable for competitive fps games but just fine for bibbling around in GTA).

So like this person says don't worry about cheaping out on the laptop if your desktop is muscular.

Definitely not. I work for a company that sells refurbished laptops.

Had this laptop around 5 months now, really good laptop no complaints here.

Yeh, why doesn't everyone who views the thread just google instead of the 1 guy who actually made the thread.

Wasting everyones time is fun.

SO, what's your point?

I have a x550ca and its been fine.

none in Warrington.

Asus X551CA-SX024H is Which recommended as a best buy under £500 son much for the negative vibe about quality from some!

Heated, fair spec for the £.

Thanks OP! None left at York Tadcaster, rang Tesco and they said 3 in stock in York Clifton Moor. Went there and bought one. But the model wasn't displayed and I did asked for one which they then brought out from the back.

I find nearly all ASUS stuff trash, including motheboards. Despite everyone always spaffing themselves over them.

Gigabyte or nothing.

My Sony Pentium4 tower had an Asus mobo. The only fault with that was Sony being difficult when it came to replacing a faulty optical drive under waranty. They could not manage a sentence with out saying virus. Funny only one of two devices had this mystery virus. More recently Asus in my experience employ customer service staff who come across as completely clueless

Nice one OP have some Heat
My wife as had her Asus X58L for something like 5yrs and its not the fastest with only a 2gb chip but still runs fine and she is on it every day for about 8-10hrs also have a Google nexus7 which is made by them and still runs fine
So where the they are crap comes in i don't know, as for plastic most things are made of plastic these days its how you treat thing thats important.
People must be throwing them all round the room my wife can't be the only one thats had a good one.

Good deal. Have an ASUS laptop. Good build quality.

Got one from Bellshill Tesco. Only one left in stock now which is the display model.

Nope, Asus are crap. I work for a company that refurbishes laptops, tablets, phones. Asus are poorly constructed with hopeless touchpads, some of their past laptops such as X series are absolutely horrible.

Agreed, I bought an Asus laptop two years ago and it literally broke within two weeks. Unless they've changed their quality control, I wouldn't bother.

went to broughton park none in stock only the demo model was going to go to wrexham but looked at the demo and thought it looked very cheap ( the plastic felt like they used a very cheap one and keybaord was a bit mehhhhh and not much stood out about it )

when you compare to other laptops in the £400 range (which is what this is ment to be ) it would not be my first choice in fact its probably the lowest quality laptop in that price range
for £400 I would probably buy something like a levono ,hp or dell as all three of these felt and looked like quality

but if they had one in stock i would have bought it for £270 as its still worth the money

Have to agree hp probooks are very good except for sound quality where asus are better.
