I was looking around for a new sound card for my HTPC that had a digital output and this new card from Asus is almost as cheap as the no-name stuff. Ever tried getting a driver for a SuperMegaSound 2000 sound card after a few years? It's not something I'd recommend.

It includes a built-in headphone amp as it is really targeted at gamers, but has a low-profile bracket included and the digital output makes it ideal for HTPCs. The sound is leaps and bounds ahead of the onboard Realtek that I used before.

The usual rip off P&P prices from the likes of Scan, Aria, Novatech etc. put the cost of getting this in any reasonable timeframe up to about £35 and I wasn't paying that.

I was happy to see that CCL Comupters have a decent shipping policy though so P&P for this card was only £2.49+VAT - very reasonable and so the total was just £28.80. My card arrived the next day, recorded delivery.

These cards are new to market and seem to be gaining a good reputation, so with the low price they are selling out fast in many places. Stock is limited in many outlets, including CCL, but they do have a few available for immediate despatch.

I'd love to know where people are getting these cheaper!

HUKD is like this all to often nowadays, people voting cold without explaining why, never sharing the offers they seem to be comparing with. Sad.

try scan. they had it for less than £25 yesterday, and if you're a member of avforums, then it's free p+p

try scan.

Slightly more expensive for the card (£22.77+VAT) and with £6.99+VAT P&P it comes out to £34.96 inc. VAT.

I know Hexus members can get free shipping, but obviously this won't be available to everyone.

Well it's actually £26.75 from scan inc p&p if you create a FREE avforum account. In fact it's a pretty similar price or cheaper to this in most places including local computer shops.

Ebuyer is 15p more inc p&p etc so no real deal to be found here.
