Just noticed this price drop at John Lewis. It had dropped to £250 in January but this extra £50 will tempt me. Retailing £300 most places. Good spec tablet with largely favourable reviews.

Thanks for sharing your first deal post @messi_the_best Similar price to Currys but John Lewis offer the 2yr guarantee which makes this a better bargain imo, voted hot.
Bought this at the sub £300 mark and I can clearly say this is a fantastic tablet and a good all round performer.

I have the LTE version, not available in the UK. Can you just confirm for me if yours has vibrate function as mine does not
I have this and its a steal at this price
Nicely specced tablet at a good price, hot.
Good find Lionel, didn't think you'd be on HUKD. Thought money would be no object to you.
Looks a good price - what is the latest version of Android this will support please?
This is a very good tablet but has a small but serious issue if you are going to use it for Netflix/Amazon.Despite this having a great screen neither Netflix or Amazon do HD streaming for this tablet which is downright disgraceful and probably outwith Asus' hands.
HD streaming/downloading seems to be limited almost exclusively to the massively wealthy Samsung/Apple, wonder why that is?
My old Samsung Galaxy Tab could stream HD 4 years ago.

It's a shame the 3S 8 doesn't seem to meaningfully exist in the UK, as I'd buy one of those at RRP today

Plus unlike Slurry's, the John Lewis customer service teams, use adults with at least 1 year of experience, who are over the age of 4, to help you with the products they actually know about

@messi_the_best good find, keep them coming now you have started!

Is that not part of the Asus sensor hub? eg: it is under the google settings for vibrate on key entry / touch?

The lte KL has snapdragon, so wonder if that may be something to do with it, if the sensor is not fitted to it?

Netflix streams in hd in chrome canary or via browsers apps on android 6 & 7, not sure about amazon as did not think their upsteam was real hd anyway?

I can only speak from my own experience and Netflix do not stream in HD on this tablet (through the app, I have no idea what Chrome Canary is ).
IME (with the Galaxy Tab S) if your device is 'approved' for HD streaming then you'll see HD next to the relevant content through the app, you don't get that on the 3S 10.

"Netflix is available in HD on the Android tablets below.

Great tablet for this price. The screen is lovely (if a bit shinny) and it's big enough to read documents on (PDFs, etc.)

Mobile devices need to support widevine L1 to stream hd from Netflix and other distributors, I believe this not expensive, just adds a bit of time, and, frankly inexcusable on any device with a hd screen - my axon7 phone has a 1440p oled, but no hd Netflix.
Price wise aside, how does this OP's Tablet compare with this:

tesco.com/dir…prd

Which comes with a 2 year warranty too.

Got one of the international models of this (Z500KL) at first but had to send it back due to a dead pixel, so opted for this easier to find model instead...
I was very happy with it at £270, so it's an absolute bargain at this price!

The specs state that it's quick charge compatible, but take that with a pinch of salt... I've tried a few QC 3.0 chargers without any luck, and some people say only the official Asus charger works. I wouldn't hold out much hope for an update to Oreo or above, though, and definitely not a tablet to look at if custom ROMs are your thing.
Purchased one of these a couple of months back. This is a bargain. For anyone interested, this chipset plays HEVC Main-10 1080p flawlessly, which is what I got it for.

Yeah, was going to add that despite people's issues with Netflix, it's a damn fine playback device for Plex... Handled any videos I threw at it without any transcoding.
Got this for mum last year (for this price new on ebay), very good, snappy. I bought myself the Galaxy Tab S3 at the time too, the screen, (though very good on the Zenpad) stylus and speakers might be better on the Tab S3, you can't argue the cost of the Zenpad I'd probably have got one for myself instead if I'd known how good they were, very good value for money. I think it feels snappier than my galaxy tab s3 too.

I haven't been able to get it to Quickcharge though, which is a bit crap. I've tried the samsung quick charger as someone said that works, it doesn't. I've tried Anker ones and Aukey too with no luck.

I read the same info on Netflix and the Zenpad 10 and correct model number are on there so in theory it should support HD I'll have to check it out to see if it does.
Not sure if this or a S2 tab. I want a 4:3 with quick charge and a good screen. Good value and some heat, should I wait out for the S2 to drop in price?
Price has dropped at currys now too... Was looking instore at this last night 299... Quality piece of kit

Good tablet, however battery life is poor. Also unlikely to get any updates to oero.

My Samsung s8 charger fast charges the tablet to 100% in 2 hours.
I have one of these, the battery life is not as good as my old ipad mini, but its such a great tablet. The screen is stunning and i can do so much more on it compared to my ipad.

The 3S 10 isn't on that list (P027), only the older Zenpad 10's are listed!
I can also confirm the battery life isn't great but is massively improved if you turn off wi-fi when not in use. If you leave wi-fi on it's lucky to last overnight.
I had isolated this tablet as a replacement for my old one but then ended up getting an iPad 9.7 from eGlobal for £250. Not at all disappointed with that as Apple make very good tablets (no fan of the phones myself). They are now down to c £240 on eGlobal, FWIW.

I reckon this is a nice tablet this Asus.
Need some advise! Would you buy this one or Lenovo Tab 4 Plus Tablet, Android, Wi-Fi, 3GB RAM, 16GB, 10" Full HD? Its for mostly watching videos and playing games. Thank you.

This. I had one before but I broke the screen so I went for the Lenovo. I have just returned the Lenovo and ordered the Asus again.
The only thing I would say is better on the Tab 4 is the Battery life. It isn't great on the Asus.

Putting aside other differences, the most obvious choice to make is the screen ratio. The Asus has the ipad's 4:3 ratio - best for reading and browsing. The Lenovo has the letterbox style 16:10 ratio which is better for viewing videos and games but a bit ungainly when trying to use it in portrait mode. Overall, i'm not a serious game player and would be very happy with either tablet tbh but if forced to choose, i would plump for the Asus which is excellent value at £199.

Yeah I didn't give it much thought at the time as I had to get the LTE version and the larger battery was the clincher. I notice now that mine is snapdragon too whereas this is not and I also don't have fingerprint. I also noticed that when I got a case, none of the 'holes' lined up, so speaker and headphone jack placement is also different. Fast charging also seems to work on mine, even with third party chargers. I honestly can't see why they couldn't have put the vibrate in there. I didn't think enough of the feature to even confirm whether it was there when I bought it, but I really miss it now that I've used it for a while... I'm genuinely surprised to see so many differences between the tabs. I thought it was just LTE and a bigger battery, but I think you're right, the change of chipset and the changes that introduced are probably part of it.
