Cold, it has too many ports and 1/4 the price, clearly not learned anything from Apple

wtf? ports are good for you i would rather have this than a Mac book at this price!

I'm sure he was joking

Pretty sure they were joking.

Seems rather low in ram and storage for £500 though especially with an i3.

you know what, I thought it was good but at that price i expect an i5 buddy

ASUS clearly don't have courage

I know it's text on the Internet but that was blatantly sarcasm.

Heat from me. Not the fastest but very portable

Not concerned about the storage or processor, but 8GB would have been nice...(_;)

Haha! Whoooooosh!

These laptops feel extremely nice. The build quality is amazing for the price.

I bought ux305 model last year and it had 8gb of ram.
Anyway, good pice of hardware and one of the best ultrabook on the market(vale for money wise)

I think it's telling that the one reviewer scored it highly on everything apart from price and performance.

I'm waiting for Joe90_guy to pop up and declare that it plays games "perfectly fine"....

It doesn't come with dedicated graphics if that's what you're referring to. Its the UX310UQ model that comes with the 940MX (DDR3 though, no DDR5 version) and that version isn't officially available in the UK. This is the integrated graphics UA version with TN panel.

This also supposedly has a standard 2.5" SSD/HDD bay AND an M.2 slot and you can can supposedly occupy both at the same time which is a nice touch if true: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/asus-zenbook-ux310uq-does-the-m-2-slot-support-pcie-ssd.796362/

The only thing I don't like about the 305 (I assume this machine is similar) is the keyboard - key travel is very shallow (though if you come from the Macbook 12, it will probably feel like a traditional mechanical scissor switch keyboard.....)

Welcome to the world post Brexit....

There is a memory slot free though for another 4gb/8gb/16gb if you're inclined.

I'm more inclined not to spend £500 on it.

I bought an XPS13 from Dell Outlet last year and I'd have no hesitation in buying one of those again over this, even if it does mean ponying up the extra ££s. The form factor is just superb and it comes in at a lighter weight.

Ditto re Dell but I always wondered what this would have been like...

Jesus Christ

sorry for £500 i dont think im getting enough ram and hard drive space!

You got lucky. Really poor user reviews on Amazon.com.

this or a decent full HD chromebook? it'll only br used for kids homework and browsing the Web, youtube.

I sold my 2009 MacBook Pro, expecting to upgrade to one of the newly released ones but don't think I can justify the price. Is this a downgrade? I like the look/feel etc but don't want it to start running slow after a couple of months as my MacBook Pro was still going pretty strong after 7 years!
Any input welcome, thanks

has a row of function keys too, which is bound to cause confusion and should be removed and replaced with an emoji bar.

Chromebook.

These 6th gen i3's run super close to the i5's. It's just turbo boost its missing far as I remember. 8gigs of RAM would've been spot on

I looked at this computer along with a host of ultrabooks and after reading all the reviews on Amazon.com went for a 2015 Mac Air. I am happy I went for the Mac Air but it is slow, I mean really, really slow for an i5 Broadwell processor. My 5 year old 1st Gen i5 Dell XPS is as fast. I forgive it, its snail like speed for the unreal battery life, the light weight and build quality. If you need speed stay as far away as possible from Mac Airs. When you go to amazon.com read the bad reviews first to get an idea of what can go wrong.

These are far more games out there it will play 'fine' than won't. I'd guess 95%+ of PC games ever made will play perfectly on it.

Slow processor for price.

Cold from me, sorry.

I'll get my coat..

Thanks for your advice. Was thinking of getting a MacBook Air instead as a compromise but will think again now you've said that! I know I'd be happy with the performance of a new MacBook Pro but just can't justify the price for the mostly basic tasks I would use it for.

lol

Very expensive for what it is.

£499 for an i3? Who voted hot? oO

I bought this and Battlefield One from curry's. can't wait to fire them up.

Expensive for those specs. Seriously, you guys need to check out PC specialist. I built an awesome laptop for £500 with an i5, 250GB SSD and 8GB RAM.
