855 chip, reasonable pricing, near stock android, 5000mAh battery, decent camera specs, NFC, notification led, dual sim + sd card, headphone jack, full screen, a fingerprint sensor that should actually work.......what's going on here?! Sounds dangerously like a manufacturer actually giving the customers what they want!

This is an excellent device. The only downside for me is lack of Amoled screen. Given Realme X has shown that it can be included at below £200 device, now any device having £500 mark must have Amoled screen.

I do see your point, sort of, but I actually prefer good quality LCD. OLED (particularly Samsung AMOLED) are not my cup of tea - just can't get on with them.

Other than the better contrast levels, I genuinely prefer the look of a nice LCD - my old eye's!

I remember when it was all fields around here.............

For the price this is nearly faultless. My last 2 phones have had IR blasters so I would've liked it to have one but it has pretty much everything else, big battery, dual sim with dedicated micro SD, NFC, headphone jack, and stereo speakers. Better than the OnePlus 7 imo

Love the look of this, heat
The camera is motorised too, love it!

Take a look at 4:50 in this video for the camera action

Great specs for this price point.. 2 day battery should be a winner with the SD855.. My concern would be no IP rating and given that its a motorised camera will this become problematic in time? I would assume 'quick charge' will still be relatively slow given the size of the battery

A way better deal than Gearbest posted earlier today

I tend to agree. A good LCD is much better for me than the eye popping Sammy amoled screens.

I am giving myself a good talking to and saying no, but my clicky finger is not really listening

Was all set to go for the Moto One Vision and then I found this - price is not too bad considering the overall device.

If the 15% SB code had worked (no brainer then) or they had offered a good 'freebie' for the pre-order, then I may have already jumped on it.

So, to answer the question, not yet

I agree on this too.

I agree on this too.

Yes, I have had a few Samsung AMOLED display phones - most recent was the Mi8 Pro - and it was a lovely display, no real complaints at all, but when I came back to the budget bargain Moto G7, with the LCD, it just seemed to look right.

Not better, just 'right'.

The unboxing video demonstrates the better contrast and the 'pop' of the AMOLED, but the ASUS LCD looks pretty nice.

ASUS are a bit cheeky though (to be fair, others do this too) by highlighting the use of LED back lighting specifically - tactic to 'trick' the less tech informed users that this might be an OLED display? Not really a mention of LCD, just IPS.

I forgive them though, because it does look like a good one.
Retry that student discount when it releases.

Worth a punt, good shout - if it hits the full 15%, at £425 it would be a lot more attractive to some.

Is this normal for their SB codes then?

Excellent looking phone. I think this is the best solution I've seen for the front facing camera on a bezel less display, why waste money on additional lenses when you can just use the ones from back! And what a great battery. I like a nice Amoled but that wouldn't put me off, if I was in the market for a phone I'd be seriously tempted.

IF THIS HAD AMOLED! I WOULD JUMP AT IT.

Saw this today in Unbox Therapy today, hadn't heard if it before.

Really interested in moving from my S8+ to this, I cannot see any corners cut that would hurt me.

The OLED screen on my S8+ is nice, but, even though I've been careful I've got a very slight (can only see on a white background) Google search box burnt in to my screen... always use low ish brightness and always have it on night mode.

Still waiting on that Redmi K20/Poco F2 before I decide.

Yeah, really like the camera solution too, the Galaxy A80 is pretty sleek, but I think I prefer this?

Both are probably going to get murdered by this guy, so that will be fun to watch

I've honestly never liked Amoled at all. I'm yet to find a display I like as much as the LCD on my Lumia 1520.

Everyone has their preference.
Looks very chunky
so it's this, or wait for the regular oneplus 7...
Great deal. Shame they're not offering the higher spec models on pre-order.
if you go on germany asus the 8gb 256gb is 599 euros which is £526.. bargain!
5k mAh battery, coupled with Snap 855 means this should be an Ariston not an Asus.

I would rather have this battery than a phone a couple of mm thinner.

Lot of people love big-battery phones like hukd's favourite Redmi Note phones. Very brave of Asus to put a massive battery In their flagship. Hope it pays off for them. Don't mind a bit chunkier phone if I can get 2 days battery life.

Wow this phone looks like everything I want. Very tempted.
Just checked the Russian eshop and they're giving away an Asus watch with it, worth £170~. The phone itself is £520 for the 128GB model:

Wish they'd do that here!
