Been watching out for a good price on this tablet. Now down to £259.99 from £299.99. Still much higher elsewhere. This is a pre-Black Friday deal.

Reserved last night and collected this morning.

Might be a further 10% off via Quidco (assuming on £259.99, so would save a further £26 approx).

Required payment in store (unless you opt for free delivery) so tentative on the Quidco. It said it tracked lower and will qualify for 10% upon confirmation of purchase from Currys.

The tablet is Android Marshmallow, 4GB ram, 32GB storage (expandable), 9.7" display at 2048 x 1536 (264 ppi).

Great picture and sound, with the only potential downsides being the MediaTek processor and Zen ui. Seems very fast to me. At this price, a thorough bargain.

Available in Dark Grey or White.

I'm not sure people are looking at the specs on this device, at this price point. Having had a really old tablet for 5 years which was 1024x768, 10.1" and 1gb ram, I really needed an upgrade. I didn't want to spend £150-200 on a device with only 2gb ram and a poor screen.

This device is fantastic and only the Xperia Z4 or Galaxy Tab S2 come close. It's a flagship Android tablet, not mid-tier.

Review below, but I really can't stress what a great device this is and why I was happy to share it. Expert Reviews

Don't suppose you've tried to watch 1440p YouTube videos?. According to reviews, doing this caused major lag. I was wondering whether Asus had released a fix

In that case can you provide a link to a cheaper price, or are you of the opinion the tablet is generally overpriced?

Have just tried, there is no lag during videos, but it must be tying the processor in knots as trying to do anything, e.g. minimise, search for another video, etc causes serious stutter. Very odd behaviour and disappointing. I'll keep tinkering with settings as I imagine it's overzealous power management! If I crack it, I'll let you know!

I was looking at it last week. Smashing tablet! So clear, light and responsive. Unfortunately, even at that fantastic price, it is out of my budget. Heat added.

Unsure id pay this much for a mediatek powered tablet..... Unfortunately not many new tablets coming up so there is a limited choice

I'm surprised at the frosty response too, I've been searching for a decently priced tablet and finding something that has a screen better than 1280x800 with decent memory around this price point is extremely difficult (unless you go for a gearbest special)

why is mediatek processor bad?

Have to admit I was put off by the processor but just as years ago I wouldn't have bought a Hyundai (I'm on my second), things change. Mediatek seem huge and with cash comes R&D and better performance. Asus don't seem to make too big a deal about it on their page except to say it's Hexacore. Had this for half a week now and the performance is almost flawless. To me, it was an investment. ASUS Zenpad 3s official page

looked at this and the Zenpad 580 C , none of the prices quoted on here match up to what Curry's say online. Looking to buy something to replace my faulty nexus 7. Need to get something ASAP. Waiting impatiently for John Lewis deals now. I hate this bloody Black Friday rush.
