If its a gaming laptop that you want then you won't get much better than this for the money.

Gtx 1060 6gb will play pretty much any game on high and most of them on ultra. You can argue that this is not in the same price range and you are right, but the OP is barely a gaming laptop imo.

If this is the same, they're selling it cheaper on their main site lol

The 699 on their main site has an SSD built in.

really hate the aesthetics of all Asus gaming laptop, apart from that are they even that good? for instance compared to an Alienware laptop

Bizarre comment. Which alienware laptop?!?
The 2gb is limiting - you wouldn't even be able to run GTA V with best textures even though the card is capable.
By the time you've upgraded to a decent SSD you might as well go for this:

1050 GPU is what kills this.

Dell has the same, are they that bad?

1050 2GB is targeted at the e-Sports community - Counter Strike, Rocket League, DOTA etc etc...

Compared to a 1060, yeah. But then this is a lot cheaper. 1050 isn't really a gaming GPU, not in 2018 anyway, not if you want to play the latest games at decent settings and want something with any semblance of futureproofing.
Dunno why you say the 1050 isn’t a gaming GPU... I’m using it on my Laptop and it plays everything at 60fps+ 1080p. Just leave Nvidia drivers to set the graphic settings and you’re good to go, everything usually runs at medium for me. I don’t need masa turned to x8mand I don’t need hbao... people just assume if you cannot max a game out the gpu sucks... no the truth is max settings suck

You are paying £700 for mediocre graphics at best, if you are going to be forking out a big chunk of change for gaming wouldn't you want something that looks a lot better than console games that you can get at a 1/5th of the cost?

Maybe not but that's kind of how I look at it, I want something that is going to play new games with reasonably high graphics settings without any issues.

I’d rather save my money and buy something that I need.

The idiots that come here saying the 1050 isnt a gaming gpu have no idea what they are talking about so just ignore their bull****. The 1050 sits between a 960m and a 970m and its totally adequate for 1080p gaming on the go and the gaming benchmarks prove that. The 4gb version would be better tho.

But you said you have it in your laptop, so what money have you saved? You have paid a lot of money for something that compares to a gaming console.
Just be aware that lots of us bought a deal last week on AO.com for the FX503 with GTX 1060. It was advertised as having an IPS screen but arrived with an awful TN panel. This machine doesn't say IPS in the description so I would assume its the same TN panel as our 503's. To make this deal even colder, our 503's have 128GB SSD and we only ended up paying £609. (£749 - £40 voucher code - £100 AO refund for incorrect display.)
