Asus/Google Nexus 7 (2013) 32GB w/2 year warranty - £149.99 @ John Lewis (Price Matched with O2 deal)

Found 16th Aug 2014
So after a recent phone call to my local store, it seems John Lewis will price match O2 with their Nexus 7 32GB offer.

They will price match online AND in-store. Had confirmation online even though out of stock but best place to get one is your local. Check your local O2 is in range of the John Lewis store and has them instock and they should price match it for you. Giving you that nice John Lewis 2 year guarantee and customer service.

Having mine delivered due to convenience.

I am quite shocked at this (Im not doubting it) but they have none in stock online, they are currently £199.95 on the JL website and they have price matched the O2 (priorities presumably) deal?

Edit : just seen the O2 deal, Do John Lewis require some kind of evidence towards a deal they are price matching?

The O2 deal is a general deal. No Priorities needed, anyone can walk in and buy one or create an account online and buy one. I submitted a price match form and received an e-mail that, even though they were out of stock and shwoing as £199.95, I could order and reclaim the difference. But obviously useless ordering online as they are out of stock.

Price for O2 shows online as £149.99 and if you walk in and ask they will say it's £149.99.

Rung my local who had a few in, asked them to price match, gave me a call back and I paid there and then over the phone. It's being put in the post as we speak for delivery from my local (Trafford Centre)

It's ok, I have just seen that the O2 website now has them listed at £149.99, I bought a MeMoPad 10 last week, and to be honest I'm not very happy with it (at all).

Ah see, this is why I don't buy into these low cost Android tablets. It may seem like a good deal but sadly they're just crap in performance. I had a Tab 3 8.0 and it did struggle a little but was nice on performance. Only bought this as my Tab 3 8's screen has smashed.

Yeah, It's definitely the 1gb of ram that is the issue as opposed to the Nexus's 2gb, I should have known really as I own a S4 which is also 2gb ram, Downsizing my device ram was never going to end happily

I picked one up from o2 rooted it i installed slim rom and elemental kernell and its awesome.

I got one the other day, it's nice. Mainly got it because our cheapo tab won't run Sky Go - it shows as rooted although it's only sort-of-rooted, they're made like that.

So anyway, If I root anything it'll be the cheapo tablet for a first attempt but is there a way to fool Sky Go into thinking it's NOT in fact rooted at all?

Anyone have the John Lewis product code for this item as it is required for an online price match deal? thanks

Has the bug between Nexus and BBC iplayer been fixed? It gives a stuttering performance after 15 minutes play on programmes downloaded on iplayer and makes them unwatchable. I am looking at the Samsung tab 3 just because it is still on jelly bean and not kitkat. Good price though for a Nexus, but they need to fix the problem soon, it has been there since the last upgrade. several months.

The Tab 3 8 inch was updated to KitKat. And it's really the only one worth getting. Highest specced one out of the lot. On a side note, I could test this out if you wanted when I receive mine and PM you?

It's on the page lol:

Product Number: 80241206

Honestly though mate your best bet is to ring a store and get it priced matched there and then delivered to you. You can only use the online price match when buying online, and as it's out of stock you can't really do it, you can get it price matched but you need to buy the thing to get the difference. Call your local store and just ask them to price match it. Once they've agreed just ask you can't make it to the store or something and they should offer you delivery with pay by card

The bug first showed up in 4.4.3, so stop upgrading once reaching 4.4.2. The bug has been diagnosed, but the issues are still open and no official fix for unrooted devices (Nexus or otherwise) is available yet.

Thanks for that , the product number did not appear on MY page hence my request , appeared on the 16gb (in stock) but not on the 32gb (out of stock) price match request now sent

Oops, thanks for clarifying.

Got a iPad 3 but was tempted with this as a lot of games aren't cross platform and friends play together, but on Android.
Might wait see what Nexus next tablet is like spec wise.
Though the Nvidea Shield Tablet and Windows tablets sound intresting for being able to play PC games on.

Might be worth sticking with ipad and see what develops over next 6 months.

Had one of these until the screen broke in a fall from a chair arm onto carpet... Good device, screen just a little small/ Replaced with an 8 inch tab and would never buy a 7 inch again. 30% greater screen area makes all the difference,

I don't think the Tab 3 8" has an HD screen though. I bought the Tab Pro 8.4" as can't go back to non retina displays now I am use to my work iPad. And my Moto G!

fantastic tablet, though the next version is sure to be even better.

I expect that's why theyre dropping in price fairly quickly now?

isn't the beauty of this deal that the Nexus at O2 accepts a SIM card - I can pop the one out of my phone at times

I had one of these on the day it was released 3 days later - as i picked my bag up it fell out onto the sofa which resulted in a black screen, so i returned it a replacement was sent, beginning of this year the screen just went black, i could hear but not see, got in touch with them and they told me that i would have to pay to have it fixed which the price i was roughly quoted would have been cheaper to buy a new one, So a word of advice if you have brought one recently be very careful with them they are very fragile, also consider a insurance option, i will when i get a replacement (waiting for the new model).

As far as I am aware it isn't FHD (1080p) but HD Ready (720p) as it has a 1280x800 resolution. So its HD but only 720p HD. The colours are vibrant though.

Unless you get the 4G version, no. They are both WiFi and have no SIM slot. O2 are selling the 4G version for near to £300 which is the only one to have a SIM card slot.

Download xposed framework and then install that module and it should work.

The 4G 32GB version is available for £199 at Very. Bought one a few weeks back and tried to post it here but it seems Very deals aren't allowed to be posted. Highly recommended.

Sort of kicking myself as when I think of Very I don't think of cheap X)

I mean I can't buy it anyway as it's OOS and JL wouldn't price match as they don't have the 4G version but oh well, can always use my phone as a hotspot and tether.

As an alternative you could always buy the non-4G version and a MiFi from various providers or if you have a phone that supports WiFi or Bluetooth tethering and your plan allows you to do so, tether with your phone?

Hmm, are there no Root apps or any tweaks you could install to "trick" it was on Cellular? I remember on iPhone there was a jailbreak tweak you could use to trick apps you were using Wi-Fi when you were actually on 3G and vice versa.

Problem with rooting is some of the apps pick it up and refuse to run...so you go down the root hiding path...this introduces other issues and niggles and in the end isn't worth the hassel. I value my time more these days then i use to and having to spend time making something work that should just work isn't my cup of tea anymore

Simplest option for me is to get a tablet with 3g/4g access [i've use my phone for now but the cramped screen compromises things]

Not a problem. I'll actually check it on my Tab 3 8 for you in the meantime whilst I wait for my Nexus

Fantastic deal...heat added.

Nexus 8 is soon to be released.
Next generation 64bit CPU
4GB of Ram
1440P display
16/32GB of storage.

However this will be expensive so Nexus 7 for £150 is still an amazing deal.

the offer is on till this thursday only!!!

Anyone got theres yet? Still deciding between this and a dell venue pro 8 and i need some persuading
