doesnt have space invaders
Ah, but it does have Battlezone!!

Funny how the whole point of the original Atari VCS was that you could change games by installing a different cartridge - still for less than twenty quid it's probably worth showing the PS/3 generation just how unspeakably dreadful games were in the late 70s!

Whatever next - a playstation one repro?
Shame these Atari retro things never contain the 2 Pitfall Games, and The Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark games as I'd love to play them again.
I thought the Atari was awesome for it's era, and may I say also more reliable than todays offerings...
Don't suppose anyone remembers a game where wee flames would appear and you had to try and put them out? I used to think it was called fire king but can't find anything to back that up. I'm sure the screen was black and red.
I remember taking the skin off the palm of my hands playing the Pele football game
mikno2

Space Invaders is crap.....
No River Raid!!!!!

Gutted!

How on earth do some people's mind work???! oO
Does anyone remember a game where you had to keep running away from this massive ball?

So annoying that I can't remember what it was called as I used to play it for hours.
no E.T.? That was awesome (_;)
thanks

Dickie boy

No River Raid!!!!! Gutted!

great game
So tempted - until I saw that Space Invaders wasnt included. But this is where it all started.
I had a Atari 2600 back in 1980. Games where reliable as where the development imagination of the people who conceived them. Things constantly evolve. . But if we had not had these greats..we would not have had todays games. Its unwise and far too easy to forget the pioneers.
Riddle of the Sphinx (remember the silver box?) and Defender would have clinched it for me. It just also hit me that these carts where about £45 each back then. Dunno how on earth we afforded them!!

snopes.com/bus…asp Technically not buried. Wow. Most failed games would be shipped back to factories, have the labels peeled off and the cartridge shell can be reused and the chips on the board reprogrammed.but they just didn't bother and destroyed them all...
For some even cheaper nostalgia try "20 games to play with your mates" on xbla indie for 80 msp.

I'm pretty sure I still have my copy of ET somewhere! I remember playing it as a kid & thinking wtf do I do!
Shame Defender is not on there. I remember 'clocking' that baby after around 5 hours continuous play at my mate's house. The only 'achievement' I needed to see was the score resetting to 000000
I can remember my mate completing adventure in some riduculous time, cant remember exactly but I think it was about 1 minute or so

Hissy Miss

Maybe it's actually worth something now then, despite being terrible.

There's also Game Room on XBLA (XBox360); all the games on there can be played for free for 10 mins. Some info here: xblagameroom.com/

Space Invaders is crap.....

If a 'ban for life' button existed I'd of pressed it, Space Invaders started it all! Wash your mouth out!
seefman now has Bourne's sniper lens!
^^. Naww galaxian was miles better - albeit coming 6 months after space invaders !!!
Does anyone remember cloak of death - text based game where you are trapped in a house.... very eerie, still gives me shudders
Can any of you guys remember getting cramp in your hand while performing in the 1500 metres on Decathlon, the last couple of hundred metres was agony

haha, I guess they've just realised they're getting old X)
The thought of retro gaming is always better than the reality.
How about saving the 17 quid and getting out and playing some real football, real tennis and real basketball with some real people

Heat for the nostalgia tho haha
space invaders helped to define gaming....but it has excellent pitfall. what a find
Still got the original console (fully working) in the loft - with some games (including Space Invaders which is sadly lacking here).
I want an atari 800xl for The Lone Raider.
