This should be a cracker of a match for a place in the Semi. Hopefully, with all the pounds worth of talent on show, it won't be a let down!!!
Enjoy.

Sky 1 have had loads of Champions League (Wednesday) matches on now for some reason over the last few weeks. Last night Real Madrid v Dortmund was on.

What the f*ck am I paying for?! If they don't heavily reduce the cost of Sky Sports when the Champions League goes to BT Sport (which they won't) I'm going to have to defect.

I checked Virgin out when I moved. You have to pay extra for Sky Sports HD so it was no cheaper + no Sky Atlantic = Fail.

I think it’s aimed at Now TV customers to get more people using it, in that you get sky 1 on the entertainment pack

Wish I had the option to move to Virgin, but our street was built after the cables were laid in the village. We are in the "slowband" category, with no cable and no fibre. We do have Sky including the sports packages though.

It does take the proverbial just a little bit. Although I have heard of success stories with people in similar situations phoning Sky CS up and managing to get reductions/better deals based on the Sports packages because of the circumstances; have thought about trying it myself, but it'll probably be just pot-luck.

I feel your pain - definitely in the 'slowband' area here, too; apparently living in a park-home off a dual-carriageway (on an officially recognised park-home site, I might add) means we don't exist to most companies. Wouldn't mind so much, but it's something I'm willing to pay for (within reason), but it looks like I'd have to move to be able to get it as an option.

I don't have sky sports so it's okay for me! I never took sky hd at £10 pm extra either, but 3 months after my subscription started, got it for free, and have ever since.

The secret with sky is have no extra packages, as you get offered them cheaper later on.

Why not stick with Sky TV and have your broadband through BT, that's what I do and I get BT Sport free on Sky?

Definitely do not move to Virgin, went to Virgin last year for 4 months and couldn't wait to get back to Sky. Had the VIP package which was the best of everything, 100MB fibre optic which kept buffering over Netflix and Lovefilm, never had that with Sky standard 6MB broadband, no Atlantic, half the channels Sky has, Tivo isn't as good as the Sky HD box, plus after a few months they wanted to put my price up £5 a month, even though I had signed a contract for half price for 12 months. Needless to say I used the get out clause as soon as I could.

You have to pay extra for Sky dportdHD with Sky too, i think it's £5.25 extra p/m? on top of £5.25 extra for HD too.
As for Sky Atlantic i'm not missing it one bit after moving from Sky to vm there are other ways to watch HBO stuff which i wont discuss here but it's legal. It just involves a smart dns

how do you find out about these matches! I only find out on HUKD. Mind you, I'm on here everyday anyway

Thanks for the heads up. Want Atletico to win the CL and La Liga, Simeone has done miracles to that team.

I removed skysports after figuring out that it aint worth the price, rather stream the big matches from wiziwig and watch MOD and save £20 a month. Will be moving next month and changing to a BT package anyways.

It's not 'free' on Sky1 because you have to subscribe to SkyTV in some shape or form to get Sky1 in the first place. Muppet.

STOP PRESS! The new series of Game of Thrones is FREE every week on Sky Atlantic from next week

You are about 24 hours to late to start a debate of such ilk: should have got involved yesterday on previous footy thread.
Oh, and stop calling yourself a Muppet, you silly billy.

Oh dear, "to late" in a thread not yet four hours old. Says it all.

It's just £5.25 extra per month for HD, only one £5.25, so if you subscribe to Sky Sports and pay the £5.25 for HD across all channels, i.e. Sky Movies etc. you automatically get Sky Sports HD.

The football fan definition of 'free' is clearly too complex for me to understand and way over my head. I had better bow out here; it's all too confusing for me.

They were charging me £5.25p/m for hd channels and a extra £5.25p/m to get the sports and movies in HD add to that £15p/m for BT Sports if you want it it soon mounts up. IMO both virgin and sky are as bad as each other, once my contract is up i'm getting rid of vm tv and phone and just keeping broadband and sticking to on demand content with a smar dns.

Sky had a deal on for half price tv packages and free broadband for all existing BB customers. I took that up and haggled further to get half price line rental. Total for phone, BB and Sky Sports is £29pm w/o HD. Absolute bargain.

They were definitely over charging you then, it is 100% only £5.25 per month for all available channels in HD.

All channels in hd is 10.25 a month. Entertainment Extra channels in hd is 5 a month. Premiums (sports and movies) is an extra 5.25

Those that have Sky will have had to pay something (legally speaking, anyway) in order to watch Sky1 (amongst other channels), granted; but it's 'free' in the context of it being without any form of an additional payment in order to receive the Sky Sports package and associated channels that you'd otherwise usually have to have in order to watch it, though... (which again, takes the proverbial).

Perhaps you've got a point; but in the context of the situation, either those that currently have the Sky Sports package are effectively 'getting less' (value?) for their money (which is unfair), or those that are otherwise without to start with, are getting select 'bonus pickings' for free that others still have to pay the same going rate for.

Sky know that the majority of its Sports subscribers will be watching the Bayern v Man Utd match on the same night, so giving this away free is something of a token gesture to its non Sports subscribers. It's a shame they aren't putting the Man U game on Sky 1, but perhaps they thought it would upset too many Sports subscribers to be worth it.

I hadn't heard of that deal, sound very good, but HD would be essential for me, I rarely watch any of the non HD channels as they look very poor on my TV.

Move your dish 3 inches to the right (if stood behind - otherwise 3 inches left) . Go to Services > Add Channels and manually tune in 11.954H, 27500, 3/4 and you'll have the Bayern Munich vs. Manchester United match live in high definition and absoluetely free of charge courtesy of German channel ZDF HD. No Sky subscription required whatsoever.

EDIT. HD channel is 11.362H, 22000, 2/3.

Yes just loosen the bolts slightly and steer the dish approx 3 inches towards the right (from behind) and tilt backwards no more than 1 inch. Tune and store the channel as above and go to Services > Other Channels to view. The channel is free-to-air so anyone around Europe can watch it.

This website will show you exactly where to point the dish. Input your postcode and first select Astra 28.2e (Sky/UK). This will show you where you dish is currently pointing. Then select Astra 19.2e and the map will show you where to point the dish to.

Força Barça

More of a heads up than a freebie as you have to pay for TV services? Heat added none the less.

They do this to compete with BT, as they are losing the CL next season.
