Just been down to my Derby Lidl and spotted a bargain for these. Dropped from 79p to 29p, and they actually look fresh and decent, even more so than ones from dedicated grocery shops!

My experience of Lidl/Aldi veg/fruit is not good- unrefrigerated, and usually old/rubbery and towards the end of it's shelf life, if it isn't already starting to decompose - it soon will be.
Bought numerous 'bags/punnets' of 29-39p bargains ALL of which that had at least 1 item that was unusable.
They had strawberries there the other day and literally they were 'on sale' rotten in the punnets.
Just wondering if our store is the only one like this?

rubbery.

I use three LIDL stores around Preston.
Their fruit and veg is spot on for quality
and very fresh. Good selection and usually
much cheaper than the biggies.

Lidl is the ONLY place for fruit and veg, quality beats Sainsbury and Tesco locally hands down.

Our Lidl refigerates things that need to be refrigerated and leaves all the fruit and veg that do better in ambient temperatures out where it should be, where many of the bigger supermarkets fail.

Sometimes some of the items in both sections don't look their best if you go there later in the day, but I just accept this a par for the course, since typically an average Lidl/Aldi would have 2-3 staff members working after about 5pm, whereas a Morrisons/Tesco would have many several more.

Come the next day, next delivery etc. quality is restored.

Quite agree. Offers are very good and quality is the same as other supermarkets.

lots of recipes on the BBC website
bbcgoodfood.com/sea…pes

I like moussaka - loads of different recipes. I rarely make it the same each time as it basically a stew with an aubergine & cheese topping. Minced lamb is my favourite. e.g. a recipe from Anthony Worrall Thomson bbc.co.uk/foo…tml

Hot from me! I love Aubergines.

:w00t: I am sure you do

On my first glance I thought it was a USB flash drive

Then when I read that comment, I was thinking about Toys...

good price they normally sell this for a pound

If you don't have time to make a dish straightaway, slice them and fry in a little olive oil then freeze them until you are ready to use them...Moussaka-tastic!

"all i need is a small aubergine"

i would be surprised if any one knows what that catch phrase is from. it is from a not-so-popular TV show from 15 years ago.

is this a 4gb or 8gb aubergine and is it USB 2.0 ?
