Unfortunately i don't think this will get the heat it deserves because some won't recognise this isn't the cheaper american oak Auchentoshan that can be found for £18-£20

Seems counter intuitive to me too. You buy the cheap stuff for mixing with other flavours, the more expensive stuff to savour on its own. The cynic in me thinks that this whisky might be a marketing gimmick to cash in on people who have spare money, dont want to be seen buying anything cheap and might be overly anxious to appear sophisticated. I'm sure its decent stuff, but then a £15 bottle of Tullamore DEW is decent stuff too.
