There is some thin and flimsy rubbish out there a bit cheaper - there's a reason why some seats are well over £100 rrp. Might've been interested if they had any group 1-3 seats - we've just bought 2 Recaro Young Hero seats and when you compare them to cheaper offerings, you can see and feel why they cost more. I wouldn't cheap out on child safety by buying a £35 car seat. Heat from me.

Probably because they are not Isize and their is not a list of compatible pushchair adapters.
If not going for Isize the maxi cosi cabriofix or the Britax infant seat are often on offer for under £100
those ones have scored well in crash tests.
A better indicator of quality than price

U need a base for these at £175

When you can see it is made of better materials that are sturdier, with better harnesses and side protection padding then yes it is going to be safer. I have seen some of the rubbish pedalled at Halfords, TRU and Mothercare for £30 to £70. The Audi tax on these at RRP is likely to be a 30% markup over other well established equivalents by Recaro, Britax etc. There is no way Audi are selling a £50 RRP car seat for £250 because they added their badge. At £100 these will almost certainly be a good buy against other makes which are selling at around £180.

Wasn't aware of Audi Connect. Do you need a separate SIM card for this?

I believe on the 66 plate and newer cars the sim is built in. Before this there should be a SIM card slot somewhere in the car. It allows things like google maps satellite view to be used as a sat nav , weather and news etc.

Oh no you bought a premium car but don't expect to pay a premium for … Oh no you bought a premium car but don't expect to pay a premium for maintaining it? Get real. I suppose it would be ok for British Airways to hire halfords to do their aircraft servicing? If you want cheap. Then you probably shouldn't be looking German to begin with, go form your orderly queue at Dacia and Hyundai.

If I am paying a premium for a car, I expect premium quality parts that require less maintenance. This is true of most products: if you buy a more expensive washing machine it will last longer and take more of a beating.

With a 1 in 27 engine failure rate for a new Audi however (the second worst in the industry), the German auto manufacturers seem to be delivering the exact opposite of the consumer ideal "you get what you pay for."

Also, it is widely accepted that dealerships (this applies to all dealers, not just Audi) on the whole do a far inferior job compared to independent specialists for that brand. To use your analogy, taking your car to an Audi dealer is like British Airways giving you the first class lounge but still taking the plane to Halfords round the back.

In a nutshell, you mix the correct type of antifreeze with the right … In a nutshell, you mix the correct type of antifreeze with the right amount of water (if applicable) and top up your cars coolant tank to the required level. Easier than making a cup of coffee.http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/breakdown_advice/how-to-check-your-engine-coolant.htmlNice link to explain. Its like the yearly MOT they never check every possible area of your car, they simply don't have the time, they check they key areas and pick a few more at random also looking for any obvious problems - having a brand new MOT doesn't mean your car is safe or won't breakdown. A full service is more comprehensive, although you do have to pay more for it.

By mixing 50/50 is NOT checking your antifreeze it topping it up! Antifreeze has to be changed it does not last for ever in your cooling system and just topping it up is doing you no favours long term. Get it checked!
An MOT is in no way connected to weather you car will breakdown! its safety! (at the time of test) there are no random areas to check on a MOT all parts to be checked are documented and you can request a full list of Testable items from VOSA
"A full service is more comprehensive" wrong! there are different levels of "full service" as you like to call them, and this will not ensure your car will not break down!
You can only minimise the chance of breaking down not illuminate it!
This is why if you are offered a FREE winter check by a main agent you would be stupid NOT to take advantage of it! Just avoid Lego mechanics like Hell frauds

Doesn't work as easy as you suggest.

I had the same service plan with VW for a 6 yr servicing regime, changed the car 3 years later for a new VW & they told me the plan was only valid to the car already noted on it. I received a refund that was disproportionate to the time & service left & to add insult to injury the offer of a new plan was nearly 70% higher so I told them no & organised it through a local Skoda dealer who gave me the same plan for more or less the same previous cost. It goes on the VAG database so the car gets all work & servicing done by Skoda & I save lots of dosh but crucially have found a great dealer.

It is also worth removing the pollen filter (under my bonnet on my Audi) and spray dettol anti-bacterial spray in to the entrance way while the air con is running. Give it a good spray. That kills off bacteria before the "recirculating" part of the system that the Lidl/Aldi cans will get.

If you look at your Audi service book there are 2 types of service (Standard / interim) which is basically an oil and filter change along with a bit of lube here and there and the general checks of engine coolant etc, they call it a safety check.

The other type is the major service, on my car its every 60k miles and covers all filters along with the standard oil and filter change and safety checks.

So for me its either a standard every 20k mile service or an every 60k mile major service.

Then theres the additional work outside of these services, brake fluid change , gearbox oil etc etc.

[QUOTE=spendaglenda;5956089]Thank you so much for the post, I took advantage of the free MOT in March which my trusty A4
passed with flying colours - the Audi Dealer in colchester were so helpful even tho' I was not a paying customer -
they even lent me an umbrella and drove me into town whilst my car was being attended to.
I have booked for next years free MOT as it is certainly not a 'rip off' offer, just Audi keeping their customers happy!! PS do BMW etc give any free MOT's!!!
I am now dreaming of owning a white A5!!!!:stocking: hint hint santa:santa:[/QU i found colchester audi to be very helpful too.i needed a new springs just days before xmas and they bent the rules for me n ordered one s part of the workshp order as the last day for customers orders had expired. and were cheaper than ones from motor factor quotes too!!!.....wish i cud say the same thing about teesside audi my experience of them is that they r money grabbin robbin jobsworth, they seem to charge top whack for every thing.....i was sat waitin for my car while it was gettin a job under warrantly and heard them talkin on the phone, obviuosly rippin a woman off with jobs either she didnt need doin and or chargin a fortune to do ,which cud easily been done for a quarter the price at another garage, changing brake pads which were partly worn but will ''need'' changing soon n changing windscreen wipers, puttin pressure on her to do those jobs when it was ob she didnt kno wat they were talkin about

Oh dear, took the rs4 in for the free mot, it came back with a scratch that wasn't there when handed in looks like a tool was dropped on it, was livid, but funnily enough the "salesman" said that it was noted down when the car had been checked by.....him, not in my presence by coincidence. My car is immaculate and only just over three years old, felt quite helpless as I know I should have been there when they checked the car, as it will come down to my word against his. Have not had this trouble with all Audi dealerships, just this particular one in the NW!! Beware!!

Audi's are junk, my A3 tdi has broken an engine mount off the engine block, apparantly a common fault. I wonder will audi fix that for me? No chance!

thanks

There are some bad Audi dealers but there are some good ones too. This can be said of main dealers in general. The problem is working out which are good and which are not.

Very nice car, go for it mate. But I still reckon you could either haggle a few more quid off, or get an extra free upgrade (better alloys etc)

Hi Thanks for the reply,
Like you say I wil have to state what I want and see if they can accomodate my request, the trouble is this is a good deal, But not a great deal but the FOC metallic paint would swing it!!
As you say I would like them to have to work at getting me to buy rather than me going to them with all the info from the net, and telling them what I want and advising them of the offers that they can do that are listed for all to see?
I was told that black is the most common colour and just for that reason alone I don't want a black one! and I should put a 1K deposit down and sort the details out later? but this would only reduce my barganing power, so I have left at the moment hoping for them to come back & contact me?

Just sit down and talk to a salesman or woman. Tell him or her that you are interested in this vehicle but you need metallic paint as well. He or she will add the metallic paint on and you can then say although its a good deal, its a bit over budget and ideally you were looking to pay 19k. Start there and ask them to do the best they can. See what they say and then say the max you can pay is pay 20k and in the end see what the salesman or woman has to say.

Remember, you dont HAVE to buy the car. They have to sell to you. If your not happy with the price they are offering, talk to them. If they dont budge and are just being *beeps* (there are quite a few of them) then you have the right to walk away and try another dealer. If they are good and willing to negotiate, then show your interest and tell them you are very much interested and would really like to do this deal but at £xx,xxx price.

Hope that helps!

Fantastic news mate. Glad you haggled more as I mentioned earlier. Believe me you got a great deal. A prestigious car like the audi a6 and with all those options and at that price is a fantastic buy. Hope you have many happy and health miles behind the wheel. Good luck and dont forget to report back when you take delivery.

Where did you get an A3 for £1900 :w00t:

You know they have been making A3s for over 10 years, of course you can get them for next to nothing, it's just a normal old car.
