PUBLISHER'S SUMMARY
It has been 40 years since the publication of this classic science-fiction novel that changed the way we look at the stars and ourselves. From the savannas of Africa at the dawn of mankind to the rings of Saturn as man adventures to the outer rim of our solar system, 2001: A Space Odyssey is a journey unlike any other. This allegory about humanity's exploration of the universe, and the universe's reaction to humanity, was the basis for director Stanley Kubrick's immortal film, and lives on as a hallmark achievement in storytelling.

tempted to vote hot because of the material but all of this stuff (older books) is free somewhere
, and less than a minute later I found it free here is the link

Happy to add this one to my audible library, never to be listened to any time soon

Nice one OP, heat added. It's worth the £1.99 to be able to listen to it easily on the app rather than faff about with YouTube.

Just listened to the audio sample and found the narrators voice horribly grating, sounding like he is at deaths door at times!

I think that's a forward by Arthur C Clark himself. Nothing worse than a poorly read audio book but I can't find a sample of the book itself. I might just risk it for a couple of quid - the reviews seem alright.

Oh Ok, strange that they'd choose to use a sample of a different person to the one that's actually reading the book!

I doubt this performance is free though. yes you can read the book but the performance still deserves to be paid for.

If you don't like the narration you can select the book in your account and request a refund.
