Just spotted these on the AV Bristol website;

Audica CS-S1 Speakers & FREE PAIR OF CS-SS STANDS.
They also offer free next day delivery to most parts of the UK.

Cheapest i've seen these for before is £125 with the stands, and that was from AV Bristol (selling on eBay)

I've placed an order, so all being well they should arrive tomorrow.

Will an amp with 8ohms from each channel drive these speakers please?
I plan to use an old surround sound Phillips amp in the first instance until I can afford to upgrade the amp to a Yamaha/Onkyo or similar?
Thx

It says "We have just one pair of brand new CS-S1 speakers inn black available at this special price." So I don't expect anyone else to be able to get the deal...

I bought a black pair yesterday, and it said that prior to me ordering....
The speakers also come in silver though, so it's probably best to contact them when ordering to ensure you're going to get the colour you request.
My experience of dealing with them yesterday was excellent... instant email repsonse to my questions, almost hourly updates by email about the status of my order, then an email with the tracking number, and the speakers arrived at 8am this morning! I've not checked them yet as I'm at work.

Sorry to be thick but I don't really know anything about speakers...

I spotted on AVforumis hat ohitsaidwalker wants to use them as rears on a 5.1; can these really be used as bookshelf speakers on their own?

What sort of amp would I need to be looking at as a minimum?

Thanks

I guess they could be used as bookshelf speakers on their own, but I can't imagine them being that great. I think they're designed to be for home cinema. I personally wouldn't bother, as they don't look like they could give out much bass - that said, I've not listened to mine yet.

Might be best to email AV Bristol and ask them, or post on AV Forums.

Hard to say. They are a funny construction anyway: 4 Ohm, low efficiency, and bass reflex - not something I would use. I guess they are tuned for low directionality of the sound - which makes sense for a background speaker. But maybe they would be ok with a subwoofer...

Don't waste your money on these, you can pick up bargain second hand speakers easily. I got some Focal JM Lab 705 S for £30 on Ebay with a minor cosmetic ding (not quite on a par with my main JM Lab speakers, but they cost £1500... they do however use the same drivers as in their studio monitors which are £800) a TEAC mini system and sub on freecycle. If you aint got time to hunt down a bargain, just pick up some Wharfedales or something. These are nothing.

9 out of 10 people on this site wouldn't know where to start in terms of looking for a £100 bargain on ebay. I own the Audica AVS1 system that I use in my kitchen and for the size it's amazing. Plus it looks great. I would say that these speakers would be fine for anyone with a small living room or for use in the bedroom.

If you need speakers in the living room then buy these and some second hand stands from someone in your area from ebay (not as difficult to buy stands on ebay because it's all about the looks)

Cheers guys for all your help but I've just got ordered a Denon DM38DAB and wharfedale Diamond 10.1's for 299 :))

Very happy: although I'm sure the neighbours won't be.

Just need the stands now!

thanks again
