I really want to get that first hotspot badge! 404 is my record, fingers cross....
Have some heat, most people won't know/need one of these, so don't expect much feedback. Thanks for posting.

Oh well, the heat is still much appreciated!
Heated. This has good reviews. Just got a Fiio e17, wish I waited and got this instead.

Thanks! Once you get the heatwave badge do you keep it? Or is it just for the month you do it? Thanks.
No idea what it is but have some great anyway
Fantastic price for a great product. They make music from a Mac sound listenable. It's my favourite toy and now tempted to get a second.

Only a few months ago you would struggle to find one under £200. Heat.

"Heatwave Badge is earned when the average deal temperature for all the deals you shared in the last 30 days is more than 200 degrees"

Once your monthly average goes under 200deg then it disappears
Brilliant Dac and price! Hot
Great price but better than the Fiio E17? E17 hsd a decent head phone amp built in to so more flexible.

Simply not true. Still have my 1000 degrees hotspot badge and haven't posted a deal in over 4 months.
Hot! Would definitely need to hear one of these before purchasing though - not sure my ears would do it justice.
I came on here to find 3 for 2 offers on baked beans, and ended up buying one of these. Have some heat OP, nice find.

Sorry but that is ridicilous. I don't believe what DAC is used makes a bit of difference these days, and certainly no modern device sounds 'unlistenable'.

Also the fraudsters at WhatHiFi rate these, which isn't a good sign.

Good deal if this is what you want though.

Simply not true. Heatwave badge disappears when your monthly average goes under 200deg. Maybe you're thinking about the permanent Hotspot badges?
Is this the reason behind the price drop, a v1.2 is launched: audiostream.com/con…ter

Could be although there is usually very little difference between 1.1 and 1.2s as many IoS "upgrades" have taught me!!!

So I should just never post again? X)

by bypassing the poor quality sound card that is built into your computer

How does this dude know what I have in my computer.?

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that

Hopefully this'll hit 500 and you'll get a yellow Hotspot badge - that'll be yours to keep!
Add me to the list of people not sure how this compares to a Fiio E17 (sat on my desk, still not enough inputs for everything :P). I must admit it looks very easily portable, I know I don't take my fiio out nearly enough...

Great price, not sure I can justify the upgrade over the Fiio E10 though...

Why do you call What Hi-Fi "fraudsters"?

Why do you call What Hi-Fi "fraudsters"?

Because they try to con a gullible public into believing that the naughts and ones in digital video stream look nicer by spending hundreds of pounds on an HDMI cable.
I wish I knew what this did. But it's a gadget.. So I want it.

Fingers crossed! 404 was my record.
The What HiFi is now recommending Cambridge Audio DacMagic XS for £99 and say with a VIP voucher at £10 off for £ 100 spend at Richer Sounds is very attractive by comparison.

Its like an upgrade from standard def TV to HD TV. But this is a hi-fi audio device for laptops, so it will output hi-fi quality audio. Useful if you feed it quality sources, eg high bit rates and 24 bit width sources, but its likely ordinary sources will sound better too.

Read their reviews on HDMI cables, which they are clearly paid to write as that other than build quality, there is no difference between a £5 HDMI cable and £100 HDMI cable.

After reading those, can you trust their other reviews? I can't.

How is it likely? Could you please explain how the sound card in my laptop is inferior to this?
I have never seen an explanation that is not full of lies.
My apologies to the O.P. but how many people on this site know what a DAC is ? And my apologies to those who do for seaming patronizing.

The same could be said for any magazine or website that reviews products and takes paid advertising.
A DAC can improve sound quality, it all depends on what you have installed. If it's on board Audio like a Realtek HD audio codec you definitely should hear a qualitative and quantitative difference.

Honest ;-)

Seemed pretty seamless to me.
