exactly, I can charge my phone at 66W so 10W wireless is pants.

You charge it wired. That's a completely different story. Lots of people still charge it wired at 15w-18w so for them 10w wireless is not bad. If we do not have wireless powerbanks above 10w, this means they are not easy to make. Wireless is for convenience, nothing else. Better with this feature than without. Even wired, most power banks will charge at 18w or under, so clearly you don't need a power bank. Or you pay £50+ for a 60w power bank. (edited)

My personal recommendation is the 70,000 mAh Chinese one. It comes under various brand names, but the cheapest and most easily found is Easylonger. It's a much more heavy duty power bank compared to this though, and costs a lot more at £200. But it has a massive 266 Wh battery, waterproof caps for the ports, has a 60W USB-C PD power output, has USB-A, DC, and car socket ports as well. Really happy with mine, but I definitely understand the price would be off-putting to a lot of people.

It also has a wireless charging pad, and it's still only 10W, so I would concur with what someone else said above about that being normal.

You're away, your phone needs charging and you're nowhere near a wall outlet. That's the point of a power bank. When we drive towards the airport my kids use tablets. By the time we are in the airplane the tablets are dead. That's when the power bank is handy.

Yes, my personal ones are 3000 mah to use it for emergency and to be able to carry it in my pocket easy.

Can anyone recommend any faster wired charger please ?

Charger or power bank? A good faster wired powerbank is Tecknet at 22.5w, deal often posted here. However, charger or power bank, is important at what wattage your phone was designed to charge. If your phone charges at 18w, a 60w charger will still charge at 18w, not more. (edited)

Not a bad device, more realistic value than when I bought it the other week. Wireless charging on it is very slow but at least it does pass-thru charging.

However, I have over 15 power banks, so I prefer different types depending on circumstances.

Before buying a wireless power bank, do note that wireless charging is extremely inefficient.

This article shares the results of some wired v wireless tests. To summarise the article: 'In my tests, I found that wireless charging used, on average, around 47% more power than a cable,” Ravenscraft writes.'

IMO I can't see the benefit to wireless powerbanks but each to their own.

Edit: I can't add the link for some reason, sorry. Just Google 'wireless charging inefficiencies' and there's a bunch of information on it. (edited)
  12. DuckDuck86's avatar
It is worth noting that wireless charging in this manner wastes 40-50% of the power.
(Unless my understanding of physics is wrong here, I'm not a sparky ;))

So to fill a 3000mAh battery via wireless takes around 4250mAh from the battery pack.
Plus the usual conversion if it's 3.7v lithium - but that effects wire and wireless.

While at home this is pennies a year, if on a trip, camping or whatever - you will use up a wireless battery pack significantly quicker.

Generally, the majority of power banks don’t exceed this limit. In between 100Wh and 160Wh can be carried after approval of air carrier.(mAh)/1000 x (V) = (Wh)This power bank is 50Wh, so well below the limit.Power banks under 26500 mAh should be ok unless they are 5v and in that case, 20,000mAh is the maximum. If the capacity is bigger, you'll have to do the Maths.

While true, I'd only care myself if going to us/can.

I fly often, 20+ times a year typically and always take a 25600 which is over the allowance. But I only go continental Europe. Stockholm in the morning, expensive place

I also check my bag in with my work laptop sometimes the power bank too!
Take my tablet on the plane and phone, add more mAh/wh.

They checked mine once or twice back when the Sony phones decided to burn humans alive, but not since.

One breaks the rules at there own peril though

But I can give you a scenario when a wireless power bank or wireless charger will do the job. If your phone charging port is broken, you don't have a choice. And one of the most common faults with the phones is the charging port. It happened to me with my previous phone. Yes, you can get it fixed, but you may not be able to do it straight away. And it will cost you.Convenience. You can also use the phone while charging wireless. I've given an example above when wireless charging is handy.

Hard to use whilst it is sat on a charger bed without picking it up though so seems more convenient to me to just plug in! Each to their own though. luckily I've not had an issue with a phone charging port in 25 years of owning phones but yeah, if it broke it would be good.

I recommend power banks especially for your teens or 22year olds, they are glued to their phones don’t answer your messages/calls 🤷🏽‍♀️ but in case of an emergency they should have one if their phones do die and they need to finally return your call/messages although they would need to use their UNI heads and charge it as well as their phones
