I am currently using another brand and found it quite tidy and stylish (if you don't mind stick an iron disc to the back of your smartphone. The disc itself is quite thin and won't affect your phone case etc). RRP is too much but £1.99 is just great price.

Please notice this is an addon item which means your total order has to be over £20 to get free delivery.

"if you don't mind stick an iron disc to the back of your smartphone" and scratch and wreck your vents, going by quite a lot of the reviews I read earlier.
I have a similar version I got from ebay for about a quid and it's excellent. No problem with damage to the vents either.
Used these for couple of years now and it’s such a convenient way to hold phones in the car. No need to press any release buttons etc just pull off and go. Only recently stopped using them as the back plate interferes with wireless charging on my new phone. Certainly a bargain a

how does it fix to the dash?

The four prongs on the back are rubber and grip the louvres on your air vents.

I've got something like this but I think you really need two cases. The disc on the back stops wireless charging and more importantly it raises your phone just a bit when it rests on the table so when you try and use it while having a cuppa it spins around!
Got one of these, absolutely brilliant. My iPhone is in a case so the disc is stuck on that. Never falls off and is really unobtrusive.
Used these until I started using wireless charging, damn shame you cant charge wireless with the disc on the back or in the case.
Great find. Thanks OP.
Now where to spend £20 to get this
I have a generic version off ebay, love it. I just put the disc inside the cover and it sits nicely on the vent. Blocks hot air and phone might get hot, but no problems. Depends on the model of your car it can be discrete or cumbersome. you would not even notice it is their if it goes with your interior.

Picked up a generic one of these from ebay for £1, SO worth it. Easy to use and love the fact you dont have to fiddle with them.

Cool comment bro
B&m sold some similar of these off for a quid a while back, phone got overly hot on the vents though. so I ripped the "claw" off the back and stuck just the disc to my dash with some "no more nails" removable strips
So much easier than a normal mount
I have one that sticks to the dashboard and since mine in flat it works well, the most convenient way of holding your phone in a car!

You can get cases with built in magnets so it sits flat and doesn't spin around. Plus some now place the magnets such that they don't impact wireless charging
Heat. Good price
Is it possible to buy this via Alexa so as to bypass the £20 spend. Used to work in the past

Are you for real...

Yeah, with this device I use my phone as a SatNav and playing music through, it's positioned on my dashboard and is operated much like how I'd use a SatNav or my car stereo? I may even occasionally do some hands free calling.

Maybe don't jump to the conclusion that everyone who buys an accessory like this will be using their phone irresponsibly for all of the above whilst doing 120 down the motorway....

Anyway, you'll have got your tin hat on so won't be listening to me....
To bypass £20 spend: add a pre order game to your basket with this > pay > cancel the pre order straight away.

Works every time for me
The problem is when you go to pull your phone off it pulls the holder off also from the vents. So you end up with your phone in your hand with a phone holder stuck to back of it. That happens if your driving an need to just pull it off with one hand.
Also the magnetic bit that you have to stick to the back of your phone will destroy your phone if you ever want to remove it that is

You can get it for £2.99 prime if you don't want to spend £20 amazon.co.uk/gp/…X6/

[edit] it's actually not exactly the same, but does the same job, may be an earlier version I suspect.

2 in 1 - even better, works as a cheap fidget spinner too!
Not recommended. The rubber grips will come off exposing metal teeth which scratch the vents. Magnets mess with wireless charging and NFC (contactless payments, etc), and if you keep your phone and cards close the magnetic strip on the card is affected.

There is alternative which I haven't tried, maybe someone could shed light on their reliability. Such as amazon.co.uk/gp/…rch (not a 'deal' btw)

But for the time I'm happy with cradle type holder. Stuck in a spot besides the radio with 3m tape it does the job without blocking vent
Can't be sure but I think these destroyed the Mrs note 4. A short while after using these the internal phone memory went.

I tried and tried but no dice. In the end I preordered an Xbox game which I’ll cancel once the car holder arrives

I did the same but with hot glue, never moved once. Job done. 👌
amazes me people spend hundreds on a mobile and then spend £2 on a holder and risk it flying around the car.

Just buy a Brodit Pro-Clip and mount designed for the phone, it won't wobble about and won't fall out breaking the phone.

I have an old smartphone I have been using solely in the car as a speedometer, yes I look at it quite often but who doesn't look at their speedo, my eyes leave the road for shorter periods than if looking at the standard speedo as its directly in front of me and higher up, its more accurate too as the wheels aren't standard, the phone has no connectivity to any networks so don't tar everyone with the same brush.
From my experience the flat ones are better. This type are not very stable.
I can see mixed reviews (main concern on phone falling down), though good price.

The magnet is in the part that stays on the dash. The metal plate that attaches to your phone is exactly that, a thin metal plate which can be placed under most cases so it's not visible. There is nothing magnetic about the part that sticks to your phone or case.

The metal disc that attaches to your phone is not magnetic, it's just a steel plate. The only magnetic part is what stays on the car vent.

DigiHUD for Android used it extensively on motorbikes before as its quicker and safer than trying to read a analogue dial especially when main reading is KPH. You can use it as a standard display or heads up projected in windscreen.

Just took delivery of one of these though so I can hardwire the power into the car as a more permanent solution in the car as start up time is a lot quicker than booting up a phone it will also automatically switch on with ignition and power will be hardwired into the car, the phone will then become used a sat nav for the odd occasion I require one. Modern touches on a 44 year old car do seem odd though. Next project is a rear view camera just got to work out how to build the screen into the sun visor so its discreet.

I got one from the Pound shop which claims to use nanotechnology suction. It has a regular window mount so no scratching air vents or overheating the phone. It works OK but it's better to remove the phone with two hands. Also, you need to wash it occasionally as the invisible suckers must fill up with dirt. But I've not had the phone fall off yet and mine is a big heavy old six inch beast.
