Some people want it all, but it will cost you 4 pounds extra to have battery power and 3G mobile connectivity with your pocket modem. £4 more than the Micronext one that I posted earlier anyway, but it is still pretty cheap.

Oh drat- actually you can get a 3g battery router cheaper than the Micronext, but it ships from Hong Kong, so I can't post it. Good supplier reviews though, search for "5in1 Mini 150Mbps 3G WIFI Mobile Wireless Router Hotspot + 1800mAh Power bank."

If I put this in my caravan would it boost the lousy site wifi signal ?

You probably want the Micronext one I posted earlier, but really a range extender/repeater ought to be placed halfway between you and the caravan site WiFi router to make the best difference.

I bought one of these (at least a version of it) a while ago
I wouldn't make the same mistake again

Replaced it with a proper MiFi device and never looked back

I also got a device that seems to be the same thing although different brand. these seem to come in many different guises . it is alright for what it is and I mostly just use it as a power bank. I don't know for how much these typically go for these days and can't vote if that's a hot deal or not.....

Similar product (no 3G) but has 32gb flash onboard storage that can be accessed as a network drive via computers or smart phones (inc iPhone) as well as battery that can charge other devices via USB. Also works as a network extender or making an ethernet connection available on wifi (good for hotel rooms). m.mymemory.co.uk/pro…172
I have a 64gb that I got for £30, not sure if that deal is still around.

You can find these on eBay - I have two. As a gizmo that can:
1. Add a WiFi AP to your wired Ethernet powered by internal battery or while fed from microUSB power supply - ie plug in a RJ45 Ethernet cable and it's a simple WiFi AP (Router)
2. Share a USB 3G modem over WiFi - do- [ie it does NOT include a phone SIM modem just supports plugging in a USB modem] - ie plug in a USB modem and should auto-detect and initialise and set up APN - though ony SOME USB modems will be supported. I use with old o2 Haewei ... E160 from memory [that were free after cashback years ago]
3. Charge your USB device off its battery while out and about.

I find them great. I got my first one from China at about £6 but it came with China only 3G profiles and I had to Google a lot to find out how to overwrite the firmware. Got second from a UK eBayer that came with 100% working software out of the box and software intelligent enough to configure itself between roles 1 and 2 (and to setup appropriate APN for the 3G modem]. Using one to write this very message sharing one of those 100GB for 2 months EE SIMs. Target price s/be lower than this HUKD.

eg mine has stencilled on it 3G Wi-Fi Router / 3 in 1:Power Bank / 3G Hotstop, Mini Wifi AP.

As others have mentioned you can find them under all sorts of brands. I am not sure if there is just one China production line and they are rebranded under various guises - eg Hama - or whether there is a 'real' product under some brand and then loads of knock-off far-east clones, but from practical sense SEEMS to be a host of them with identical appearance/look/feel/functionality [though varying coloured plastics], just be wary what firmware is/isnt on them.

A bit misleading on the 3G front as you need something like a 3G USB dongle to plug into this thing. All adds to the cost if you want something to use with a sim card whilst on the move.

"3G Modem Supported" is what the title says and exactly what you get. You will only be misled if you can't read for comprehension.

Indeed, but try posting a Chinese supplier deal in here. The mods are very picky, even about UK based traders on Amazon.
