I saw this at amazon and thought this was really good price. I have not used this product, but generally autoglym products are fairly good and this seems like a very good price.

I'm here, was fixing a PS4 controller, my latest hobby at the moment during lockdown
I've got this and it works really well... But I just find Autosmart Tardis to be my go to tar remover as it's the best for money.
This stuff is really good if you ever need to remove glue from tinted windows though, just don't get it on the plastic door cards.

Another one to look out for is Gtec W7 Tar and Glue, all their products are amazing abit like Bilt Hamber
dab of WD40 always does the trick for me....

Any problem using this on a black car

Yes, black cars instantly explode when this is applied

I feel your pain! Thats one of my old cars above, it was absolutely caked in tar when I bought it. I'd never seen a car quite so bad with tar... But after a good clean, IronX and clay bar it came up so nice. The paint was actually like sandpaper when you felt it.
White cars are always a bloody nightmare for marks, but look so good clean
Have you tried clay baring and some kind of fallout remover?

Thanks mate. Going to debadge and decontaminate the FN2 paint work for a swirl removal session once the weather is more stable so your recommendation is a big help

Was it you who mentioned you were a fellow Fn2 owner in the other post last week? Type?
I'm tempted on machining mine one more time before I sell it but tbh the paint still looks much better than when I bought it. I can see swirls but I'm super picky, probably wouldnt bother a normal person ha.

Yea that might’ve been me mate got a NHB Type R GT.
What will you get to replace the R?
Let me know what you decide to do, will the OCD win out or save the time and effort for something else?!?

Yeah, just make sure you don’t use it on a black car due to the exploding problem.

NHB comes up so nice, mines just the red one.
I'm really not sure what to get next, keep saying I won't waste my money but can't help it. I'm really tempted on an m4... I need another turbo car in my life, I'm struggling with Vtec and none turbo, even though I'll probably get shot from the Honda fans for saying that haha

Some of the Autosmart stuff is amazing! Shame we don’t have an active van round here at the moment. @Toon_army with the best detailing tips as always!!!!

Why not? Genuine question, not a challenge. I always use WD40 which works really well and I've never noticed any issues. Would like to know if I should stop though.

Have you been on their site? Last time I was on you were able to type a postcode in and see who's local, but if push comes to shove you can buy on eBay, I've done that a number of times

I'm not waxing the car with it......

just the odd tar spot removal which is unlikely to be detrimental to my clayed, waxed and polished paintwork.
Edited by: "Uridium" 16th Jun
Glanced at the title and thought better find out which gym requires it's users to have tar removed and avoid big time....
Uridium16/06/2020 18:07

I second that. A little WD40 on a microfibre cloth, buffed off with a clean cloth takes off tar spots.

I wouldn’t ever own a red coloured car but a well sorted R in red or sapphire blue just looks so good. NHB looks great, for about 30mins and then it looks like it need another wash again #dustmagnet
An M4 would be a helluva step up, if you’re going that way why not consider a Jag F Type - the V8 not the V6!
Mate, if you have the funds spare for an M4 then I say go for it

If I'm honest I'm not a red car fan either, I just felt a bit sorry for the Civic and bought it to tidy up really and turned out well. It's the cheapest car I've bought in bloody years.
Black cars are always dust magnets, I know what my Rangie Sport was like
Yeah I've got a couple of quid to buy the m4 lol, bought one of them Focus RS when they came out a few years ago, was either one of them of the m4... Everybody said I was nuts spending that much on a Focus! Was a pain trying to sell private though, so just sold to some specialist in Cumbria.
Jags as much as I love them I don't think I'd buy the F Type, maybe an F pace though! I even like the XF sure they have a v8

There’s a lot of choice around for M4 money. I was considering a RS3 but as fast as it is I don’t think it’s one of those cars you park up and keep looking back at as you’re walking away. Probably a good thing as I’m after my own house soon:)

That's tomorrows job for me, just been sent the pics and been told it's getting dropped off at dinner time. I'm actually excited
RS3 in Nardo are beautiful cars.
I'm in the same boat wanting to buy somewhere but cars and other crap keeps popping up I buy.

That's one I've actually not tried yet, but I've heard it's meant to do the job. Eurocarparts sell it as I seen some the other week when I was bored flicking through their site for cleaning products to test as you do lol.
Tell you what, I'll grab a bottle next time I'm in Euro, then report back

Oxidised red paint - this is going to look so good once it’s done. Post some pics once finished if you get the chance mate(y)
I use car polish to remove tar spots currently using autoglym resin don't know why anyone would buy a dedicated product just a waste of money
Use either petrol or AutoGlym Engine & Machine cleaner instead. Both are better than this product. Try it on a small area first and see for yourself

I finish our black car with a spray or two of meguiars last touch - seems to prevent the dust being quite so attracted to the paint and blows off quickly.

Sounds worth a try. Bring on the good weather
People rave about Tardis, but I don't find it to be the miracle-worker the forums would have you believe. It's ok, but larger and older tar spots need several repeat applications. It's also pretty nasty... smells like xylene or acetone.

Smaller, fresh tar spots = WD40
Larger, older tar spots = clay bar
