AV Receivers ALL 75% OFF at Currys Electrical Clearance Store, Merry Hill (IN STORE ONLY)

Went into Electrical Clearance Store (CURRYS/DIXONS/PCWORLD) at Merry Hill this evening to look at TVs.

They were in the process of reducing ALL AV Receivers by 75%.

All are BRAND NEW BOXED except for the odd ex-display one.

I bought an ONKYO TX-NR 807 FOR £124.99

This unheard-of brand item ;o) retails for £450-£500+ (and was £800 last December!!)

They had other ONKYO, DENON, YAMAHA, PIONEER receivers all at 75% off their store price.

THEY HAD LOADS!!!!

Sadly no Alba..... :oD

Note that all purchases from that store say 'non-pristine'

Fantastic deal - if nationwide this will be the hottest deal this year... good for you and wish I lived nearer that branch!

Hot from me!

Onkyo not another dodgy import!!!

Just kidding great price.Heat!!

You win the prize for first Onkyo joke of this thread!!

Outrageous deal, did you get a remote as well? Many DVD, bluray and receivers from here have no remotes.

Just a slight note of warning though, all items i've bought from here have been faulty and hence returned, apart from a TV stand Including a 42" Samsung LCD @ £274, a Samsung bluray home cinema system @ £149.99 and a wireless router @ £19.99.

Best of luck with the receiver though, outstanding.

Brand new. Everything in the box including remote, set-up microphone and sealed manuals.

Nearly all of the AV-receivers are brand new sealed stock.

Amazing, good work fella.

What's an Onkyo? A guy from Loughborough once told me to always buy Sony - I'd steer clear of unknown brands....

I got a dirty look from one of the staff when I asked the price of that one - cunningly someone had taken the price label off as I think that one was going to be bagged by a staff member!!

They had a pile of ONKYO TX-SR577 AV receivers for £85ish and some Pioneer ones (can't remember model) down from £300 to £75.

There were some Yamahas and some Denons as well.

They also had quite a few Mission and KEF speaker kits, some reduced from a grand to under £250!!

Sadly no more price label photos as my Hero battery was running low from some furious barcode scanning and Froogling!!

Usual reasons:

a) can't read
b) isn't online
c) jealous
d) mummy hasn't made them turn their pc off yet

etc

Sadly no Alba..... :oD

Maybe that's because Alba is an Argos brand, only available in Arogs

e) doesn't want it getting too hot before they can get down there to buy the lot and post on e-bay

smoking hot. Is there one of these clearance stores in N.I

what do you use this for!!

Incredible deal if you live close by

Great prices, such a shame it's 100 miles from me.

If you need to ask, you don't need one!

probably store specific / still hot

Would love to know what Mission speakers they had cos I'm in the market for a new 5.1 speaker set!

I've got to go back on Friday for a telly, because I can't risk hauling one round England for the rest of the week until I go home!

A few good bargains - a rake of ex-display Panny 1080P Plasmas with Freeview HD and Freesat HD caught my eye.

a 50" Panny Viera with its stand missing, but £750 off.....too big for my lounge, unfortunately!!

Has anyone risked one of the Sandstrom (DSG own brand) LED 40 or 46" tellies?? £349 for something that they were (attempting to) sell for £750 (and £1000 for the 46") in the summer......

Worth a try! (Although I suspect they may have got bored of this by now!!)

As for the KEFs - Didn't notice, sorry.

Boo hoo

I want one, but I'm nowhere near

as per usual, one store specific deal that 0.001% of the population can get to ends up hot.
this is cold. very cold.

So pretty much as described in the title then, no?

Although, are you sure that only about 600 people ('0.001% of the population') live in the West Midlands???? I think there may be a few more....

Does anyone know if the TX-NR807 supports a SCART and translates through HDMI? I'm after a receiver where I can just have one HDMI running from the receiver to the TV.

No SCART. Can't remember seeing one that does SCART recently.

Damn! I want an AV Receiver as well, been looking at the ONKYO! Shame the deals probably specific to that store and not in the North East.

Now I'm confused. I thought this was a special clearance store not a regular one?

Shadycowboy, it is a special Clearance Store (THE only one??), but that's where it is. There is another Currys at Merry Hill as well.

Receipts are headed CURRYS

Very stupid thing to say. It's a fantastic deal which a lot of people are now going to benefit from! Just unlucky you don't live near. If you lived 10 miles away or whatever I'm pretty sure you would be heating it up and would be very grateful!!! Don't be so small minded.

Excellent deal! And really doubt BB will price match as these are clearance prices.

Not quite true, there are 2 more - one in Manchester and one somewhere else but can't remember where. The Merry Hill one is the big boss store though! They tend to be the cheapest by a mile and have all this kind of stuff.
