I use adblocker and avast and not had a single problem in years. Key is …I use adblocker and avast and not had a single problem in years. Key is don't open emails you don't know, stop going on dodgy websites, adding these free games which come loaded with rubbish, falling for every fakenews story/Ad on facebook

I'd rather go on websites without worrying that my PC will get a virus and be slowed down long term. I used AVG years ago but wouldn't go near it now. It's a false economy in my experience.

No need for 3rd party bloatware, Windows Defender is good enough, designed by Microsoft to work with Windows, no annoying popups to try and get you to upgrade and pay more

If you must, then Avast has been shown to be better than AVG, Avast came out better off when they took over AVG

I remember this and Zone Alarm. Do you think using Windows Defender is enough?

https://www.av-comparatives.org/tests/real-world-protection-test-september-2018-factsheet/]Gives current protection state of play. They now own avast so likely that helped.

Actually it's Avast that now own AVG. I'm an IT consultant and AVG partner and on all of my AVG portal to monitor my customers is now labelled as the AVAST Business Portal.

Avast bought them in 2016 not long after avg decided to sell their users browser and search data.

Used to use them well before that but there were plenty of other free ones out there including Avast and Avira which always got better scores in the antivirus tests than them, probably changed now with them being bought.

I think you won't be able to install Windows defender on a Mac computer. Not sure though.

I think now that Microsoft have got their game sorted with Windows Defender there's not really much need for a separate AV piece of software. Will still vote Hot as it's a paid for product which you're getting for free.

Doesn't actually seem to be a year unless i'm reading this wrong? Mine says it expires Feb 27th 2019. Still nice though, always used AVG.
