£24 for the first year so £2/month

Policy cover provided by Homeserve, shame if Aviva had started their own scheme I would have been interested but farming it out to Homeserve is a deffo no!

Can you cancel auto-renewal immediately?

£95 excess!! We had our boiler serviced and it only cost £60
They're bound to find a fault and make you pay the excess
COLD

also make sure you read the T&Cs commonly these policies would require you've had an annual service of the boiler as well

excess is too high. to service a boiler it's £60 .
use swinton home emergency cover for £4.99

the service is free ,the excess is only applicable if the boiler breaks down.

Glad someone can use common sense / read....

A call-out for repair would cost you about £80 in call-out fees alone, so if you think it likely you'll need a fix over the next year then not too bad I suppose.

Notes "there are some exclusions." and "There is an initial 28 day period when you are not able to make a claim."

Cover provided by Homeserve, who it seems have a bad reputation e.g. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=1780007

Find yourself a good local Gas Safe Engineer instead. When you buy a boiler, go for one with a 7 year guarantee.

Mark, which would you recommend with a 7 year guarantee?

TIA

Some boiler manufacturers now offer a 10 year warranty

I bought a Baxi combi which came with a 7 year guarantee, valid so long as it is serviced every year. I paid a local company £2K to replace my old water tank system with that, a price which was less than half British Gas's quote!

Even better. I think it's far better to go for a free warranty rather than pay for insurance cover.
